TBH, Why do we need to know?
"You" might not. It will mean more to some than others. "We" is not a singular being with one view here.
TBH, Why do we need to know?
I posted at the time, the homophobic and misogynistic chant has no place in football and reported my concerns to PNE and the EFL; that's before having the first idea that one of our players is gay.Let’s be honest here, rivalaries aside, I think the nobbers would have no desire to fan any flames.
There’s nothing wrong with them. Neither has said anything negative about the boy’s sexuality. Suggest you concentrate on your positive words about the young man and stop trying to nitpick other people’s commentsWhat a great season, 30 goals, first team debut, the future is tangerine. We have a real talent on our hands, I hope he keeps progressing and turns into a multi million pound footballer who stays with the mighty and helps us to the promised land.
What a mature interview and you are part of the tangerine family Jake lad, you have nothing to fear, you have the world at your feet, well done young man, I'm proud of you.
Oh, and Philtrois and Adams Kebab, WTF is the matter with the pair of you?
I'm guessing you're straight, and have never in your life had to worry about thatTBH, Why do we need to know?
Chant back as a totally inclusive club louder and prouder.I've worked with many gays over the years & never given it a second thought. Unfortunately with sport, especially the tribalism that encompasses football, Jake could still get plenty of chanting grief. Until he's transferred to their club, scores his first goal & becomes a hero.
Don't we all love the shallow hypocrisy of being a football fan. I'm one, no one was more tainted that Tony Ellis until he scored his first BFC goal.
TSS, seeing as 100% of fans (as represented by the posters on here) back this young man then I’ve no idea who sings “here for the Gay Bars” but I’ve heard it chanted many times. As you say you (not you personally) can’t call others to a standard you don’t uphold yourself. But I can guarantee it now won’t get chanted anymore.I posted at the time, the homophobic and misogynistic chant has no place in football and reported my concerns to PNE and the EFL; that's before having the first idea that one of our players is gay.
I'm just a bit sick of bigotry masquerading as banter.
It's why I'm so pleased that we've dropped the Mosque chant.
We need to reflect on the "here for the gay bars" chant and drop it. They need to drop theirs.
We shouldn't need one of or own coming out to catalyse it; but if ever we should set a higher standard; it's now.
As for the Nobbers, they never cease to underwhelm me, so I'll not hold my breath.
New chant...TSS, seeing as 100% of fans (as represented by the posters on here) back this young man then I’ve no idea who sings “here for the Gay Bars” but I’ve heard it chanted many times. I agree completely.TSS, seeing as 100% of fans (as represented by the posters on here) back this young man then I’ve no idea who sings “here for the Gay Bars” but I’ve heard it chanted many times. It’s called evolution,TBH, Why do we need to know?
Only here for the totality integrated drinking establishmentsNew chant...
"You're only here for the donkeys, here for the donkeys"
Very well said and encapsulates what I was about to say. When was the last time BFC lead the news!!What an incredibly brave young man. So proud of Jack, but also his teammates and the club for giving him the safe environment to express himself.
What a fantastic time to be a Seasider
It’s not bots. It’s “Football Twitter” weirdos who copy and paste the same shite under any popular tweet. Just a bunch of virgins.
Thats even weirder...It’s not bots. It’s “Football Twitter” weirdos who copy and paste the same shite under any popular tweet. Just a bunch of virgins.
If that is what Addy really thinks then good riddance to him as he is clearly a 🛎
I’m not an overly sensitive type and I do think about a lot if things “it’s only a joke” BUT I accept that some jokes could have more likelihood to genuinely hurt a group of people’s feelings regardless of intention.I agree completely.
Hopefully from now on it may just have fewer 'of us' singing it and therefore just peters out and eventually those who start the chant think it's not worth the effort as nobody joins in.
At that point, we would be ina much stronger position to challenge it.
There's a way to go though as plenty will fundamentally disagree with it being a homophobic chant.
Dont think they're bots, it's an infantile bit of football twitter banter (copy pasta it's called in reference to copying and pasting something), you see it under loads of stuff.
You are probably right, Phil is good at looking at things in different ways, but they can irk sometimes, but agree with him or not he does make for interesting debate, so apologies Phil, I have edited the post. As for AK, I just thought his initial comments were a bit unusual and didn't sit with me well, but I have edited it now. There’s nothing wrong with them. Phil is the most predictable man in Great Britain, whatever the popular view is, he'll take the extreme opposite. He's been like it for years, some things he's been right about and some things he hasn't.You are probably right, Phil is good at looking at things in different ways, but they can irk sometimes, but agree with him or not he does make for interesting debate, so apologies Phil, I have edited the post. As for your latest post I agree about the chanting, and it wasn't that long ago (actually thinking back it was longer than I thought) that on the old AVFTT there were a lot of comments about Sam Oyston's sexuality and a certain Michael Chopra, based on nothing, so times change and thankfully thankfully attitudes change and we are a more tolerant and inclusive society. But there will be some who posted back in the day that will have a different mindset now because we are more tolerant. So looking at the Marv tweets when he was 15 is really unfair on the lad and just the filthy media trying to dig up dirt and cause headlines.
It's been 14 hoursIs it time to get on with it now ? Massive respect to Jake for having the strength to come out. However lets move on.
How long do you think everyone should talk about Jake ?It's been 14 hours
As long as they want toHow long do you think everyone should talk about Jake ?
Maybe the media circus is just an unavoidable consequence of his desire to be open and live his life the way he wants to. I suspect it's been managed in a way that it garners as much positive response as possible immediately, which should help him going forwards. Whatever crap gets thrown at him he has a huge well of support to draw upon. The media circus will die down soon enough, you'd hope.It really doesn't matter if he's gay or not
What i do feel surprising is that he would want to create a media circus around himself when he's just starting off in the game
Good luck to him though
Is it time to get on with it now ? Massive respect to Jake for having the strength to come out. However lets move on.
A good news story gaining world-wide interest that shows the club and player in a good light. Not sure why we’d want to move on, it’s not as if there’s any football to talk about at the moment. How long do you think everyone should talk about Jake ?
Agree re ticket prices, I've commented on what a brave decision and full respect to the lad, but the longer the fawning goes on the more chance you have of bringing out the trolls and causing unnecessary grief. Everyone is pleased but there's absolutely no need to do this to death. We move on and hopefully more will have the courage to come out.At least it’s nipped the

It certainly makes better reading than endless threads about ticket prices.
Quite. On that theme there's a pertinent comment from a fan on the Spurs Board highlighted above:Fair play to the lad proud to be a Seasider!
My youngest lad has shown some of the comments on Twitter (I don’t do Twitter) most of the hate coming from the Middle East and the occasional nobber!
Some people and cultures are still way behind in the Stone Age!
It sounds like a dig, it isn't. If everyone was the same, this world would be a boring place.Phil is the most predictable man in Great Britain, whatever the popular view is, he'll take the extreme opposite. He's been like it for years, some things he's been right about and some things he hasn't.
Didnt see your post mate, I've just put the same. Makes any major clubs tweets unreadable as the response are flooded with ridiculous shiteIt’s not bots. It’s “Football Twitter” weirdos who copy and paste the same shite under any popular tweet. Just a bunch of virgins.
Can't say I share your faith. Wouldn't take long for the abuse to come out if he scored against them or we were winding them upLet’s be honest here, rivalaries aside, I think the nobbers would have no desire to fan any flames.
I'm not sure we should beat ourselves up too much for past chants when the football authorities are still letting abhorrent regimes buy the likes of City and Newcastle, there's bigger issues.I’m not an overly sensitive type and I do think about a lot if things “it’s only a joke” BUT I accept that some jokes could have more likelihood to genuinely hurt a group of people’s feelings regardless of intention.
That chant is unarguably homophobic because it is criticising and belittling the opposition fans that rather than come to suooort their team they have come to engage in homosexual activities which by nature if the chant is a very bad thing both to be laughed at and ridiculed for. Have I sung it?…..yes of course many times without giving a second thought to who it may offend……my point is that a hell of a lot of people on here will have too.
So it’s ok having a thread with 500 people agreeing it’s brave the lad coming out (which it is although nowadays he shouldn’t have to be brave go do so) BUT the fact Is it’s powerful because it causes many people like me to just pause and think of what we sometimes say/chant without any “badness” intended but that really nowadays isn’t the right thing to say/chant.
Some on this thread btw come across in that Holier than thou way that I must admit makes me feel a little nauseous and they should catch themselves on…..and tbh it’s very predictable who will always do so
Is it time to get on with it now ? Massive respect to Jake for having the strength to come out. However lets move on.
Either way its a load of horse shit, they clearly aren’t Blackpool accounts so saying I'm a Blackpool fan and not going again because of this is just weird.Dont think they're bots, it's an infantile bit of football twitter banter (copy pasta it's called in reference to copying and pasting something), you see it under loads of stuff.
Someone probably put that in seriousness at one time and then people just copy and paste it now as a laugh. You look at any major clubs replies on twitter and it is full of 14 year olds with footballers as their profile pictures posting
juvenile memes and copy pastas.
Not the right time or place really for it but the people doing it will literally be children/young teens. I doubt they actually mean anything by it, just an attempt to get likes as it's a running joke on "football twitter".
That's right. Took personality and guts from the lad, both essential qualities in a striker. Good time for him to come out as well. By the start of next season most of the media froth should have died down and he can concentrate fully on his football. Not really bothered if he’s gay or not but can’t of been easy for him to come out like this at any age never mind 17. Shows very strong character which hopefully will help him in his career.
Scaremonger. Straight out of the Johnson playbook. "Lets move on" is his favourite phrase when people keep talking about Partygate. As long as they want to
My Nephew is Gay, we don't talk about every day, its just the way it is. Accepted as his position in life. I'm pretty confident if we blathered on about it day after day he would get annoyed. Its just not a problem in this day and age. Move along. Not sure why you had to bring Boris into this, Muppet.Scaremonger. Straight out of the Johnson playbook. "Lets move on" is his favourite phrase when people keep talking about Partygate.
The more we talk about Jake and the way he's dealt with coming out, the better in my opinion.
I've got a grandson around his age, and I'd be proud if he did something similar. Jake deserves all the support he's getting, and all the support he's going to get in the future.
