Jake Daniels - every credit

Having watch his interview on sky I doubt anyone who knows him needed telling…😎
I’m in the whatever floats your boat camp, hardly headline news in this day and age…

Who cares couldn't care less what sex people have it's none of my business and don't want it ramming down my throat .All this pride nonescence is nuts and having bum sex makes you no more special than having vaginal sex so shut up stop talking about it no one cares in fact the only people seeming to have a problem or issue is homosexuals themselves get over it get on with manlove not interested
Incredible ignorance Phill, incredible that this is 2022 and you speak as if it's the 1970's and you probably don't understand (or care to find out) why your post is so retrogressive and ignorant. Shame on you!

And in one reply you've just shown how ignorant you are. Millions of people care because finally young gay lads who love football now have hope that they won't have to hide their lives in the dark due to fear of what coming out could mean for them. The last male footballer to come out in the UK literally killed himself because of the abuse he got. You're the exact type of person that shouts " I don't care" but when the players family's come on the pitch at the end of the season and Jake brings his boyfriend on the pitch you'll start screaming about how you don't want their relationship being shoved down your throat, whilst having no problems with the players wives being there. The reason you don't get why this is such a big deal is because you've never educated yourself on how much homophobia is still in every day life, even in a 'welcoming' town like Blackpool. Pure and utter ignorance and you should be embarrassed. I mean seriously, just admit you're a homophobe and fuck off back to your cave.

Absolutely this post. Nothing else needs saying to this "who cares" replies.

Is there "you're only here for the..." chant now going to stop?
It’s got to go really… That said, I really don’t think it’s a brutally offensive chant and possibly sits very close to the type of chant that ‘Matt Lucas’ talked about being funny, but largely inoffensive (though I suspect that depends on your perspective).

It’s really important that our supporters lead on this and show that we are fully behind Jake. Most of us in this day an age have openly gay family and / or friends, we know the script, it’s just normal and not sone kind of ‘lifestyle choice’…

We shouldn’t be making people feel isolated or uncomfortable just for being themselves 👍

It needs to be consigned to the history books in the same way as throwing bananas on the pitch and the 'I'd rather have a tower' chant (remember that!!)...

It’s hard to believe now that it was only a few short years ago that Robbie Fowler dropped his shorts on the pitch gesturing in a homophobic manner to Graham Le Saux! Graham had been mocked by his own teammates mainly because he didn’t fit the image of a ‘normal’ macho footballer, but enjoyed the more cultured things in life leading to the conclusion he must be gay. Thankfully times and attitudes have moved on for the majority of the population.
Good luck Jake in your personal life and on the sacred turf of Bloomfield Road.

Thoes responses on Twitter is a weird trend that's been going for the last few years. A club or player loses a game or does something and you get loads of accounts all replying the same thing. One said the same to West Brom account after they praised Jake and the West Brom admi replied with "Bye 👋". Its just odd behaviour. But I expect nothing more off twitter.

Just watched the Sky interview with Carragher and Neville. This is important stuff and it shows the lad and the Club in a very positive light. We now have a Club going forward on and off the pitch with infrastructure investment, fans to be proud of and now, a grown up attitude to their acceptance of players' sexuality. This bodes well for us all.
Agree totally with those sentiments, and I think this has been stage-managed in terms of timing of communication. Hopefully all the attention will soon subside and by the start of next season he can get on with his career without any outside distractions. The lad deserves a lot of respect and seems to have received a great deal of support with some of those messages from very high-profile figures. The only sad thing for me is that he has had to publish his sexuality in the first place. I hope this will be a watershed, and that football finally comes into the modern era, where people are respected regardless of their race, gender or sexual orientation. One final thought - I wonder this would have been handled under the Oystons?

They would have exposed it and then started marketing it as " Come and see the only openly gay footballer in the UK play" as a way to sell tickets and make money.

TSS, seeing as 100% of fans (as represented by the posters on here) back this young man then I’ve no idea who sings “here for the Gay Bars” but I’ve heard it chanted many times. As you say you (not you personally) can’t call others to a standard you don’t uphold yourself. But I can guarantee it now won’t get chanted anymore.
It definitely will.

Either way its a load of horse shit, they clearly aren’t Blackpool accounts so saying I'm a Blackpool fan and not going again because of this is just weird.

Trying to make the fanbase look bad and make their weird point.
There are Man U, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle equivalents everywhere. Identical tweets, all fans since 1971 etc. It's overseas accounts. Bots.

I posted at the time, the homophobic and misogynistic chant has no place in football and reported my concerns to PNE and the EFL; that's before having the first idea that one of our players is gay.

I'm just a bit sick of bigotry masquerading as banter.

It's why I'm so pleased that we've dropped the Mosque chant.

We need to reflect on the "here for the gay bars" chant and drop it. They need to drop theirs.

We shouldn't need one of or own coming out to catalyse it; but if ever we should set a higher standard; it's now.

As for the Nobbers, they never cease to underwhelm me, so I'll not hold my breath.
The PNEonline board has had more replies than AVFTT. All of them, bar a couple of bigots (we’ve all got them) who’ve been banned, have been very supportive.
Good luck to lad.
The only really issue is….he plays for Blackpool!😉

Sure it must have been said, but cannot read all the posts on this, but what also makes me feel proud is how this brave young man felt comfortable coming forward within the BFC family to make this statement, must have had a heck of a lot of trust and respect for the squad, club and staff to make this announcement. Well done all, it is 2022 and this should not be the huge story it is. Just hope we see you next season in the 1st team squad.

I'd expect nothing less; but it's a whole different thing when in the match atmosphere; and as I've said on here, we need to drop the gay bars chant too so there's a way to go.

Time will tell.

My Nephew is Gay, we don't talk about every day, its just the way it is. Accepted as his position in life. I'm pretty confident if we blathered on about it day after day he would get annoyed. Its just not a problem in this day and age. Move along. Not sure why you had to bring Boris into this, Muppet.
But it is still a major problem in the changing rooms. Neville made that very clear. If this can grab attention around the world of football and in a positive way, then the attention it gets is useful.

That Le Saux event came to my mind too Levi.

Not denying that, and the message is clearly out. Let’s get on with it, I wish the boy all the best. Its my opinion and in my opinion the more people stop talking about it the less of an issue there is. It’s similar with the race card, the more people keep ramming it down peoples throats the more negatives arrive. Let’s just get on, he’s taken the step now let’s hope more can do the same.

I don't think we're miles apart on this Scara.

The response from the UK has been pretty damn good, vast vast majority in support of someone living their life as they want.

Some of the worst comments I saw were off FB on espn UK. Here's a small sample, there were many worse than this.

Most or all are foreign and clearly from backwards places... decades behind...

The funny thing is this lot would probably be the first to kick off with discrimination against them.

Yep, I think religion in all of its backward forms has a big part to play in many of these attitudes. When you have a 2000 year old book, written by men as your reference point for morality, then it's hardly any wonder that your attitudes on issues like this are totally archaic.

Is their ethnicity just a coincidence? I like Tatire's comment though, humorous without being insulting. The others can go find a rock to crawl under though

Don't think there's any humour there, he's probably being serious if the other comments are anything to go off.

And let's face it its not a coincidence that the people from these backward countries have these views, it's often based on their religious views as mentioned above.

You do realise this thread only started after he came out, not in advance like yours all under 1 roof. Also there were a good few different threads on here.

But cheers for the support 👍

Neville seemed to imply in his interview that the fans have moved with the times and have done for some time. I wholeheartedly agree with that.
He did seem to imply though that the dressing room and the inside footballing community needed to react better, quicker, and do more. I wouldn’t really be able to comment on that, but he knows more than me in that respect.
