Applegone Sacked

The big question is why now?

Just signed Rogers who said the manager was a big factor in joining

Why not Monday?

Why not before the window opened?

Can only hope the answer to these questions is that we’ve got a suitable replacement lined up.
we did this before with Grayson
he just signed a load of players in a transfer window and then we sacked him

Continually picked the wrong starting 11, the league table doesn't lie, had to go.
If he was in charge on Saturday for what is a.massive game, and we went 1 0 down the atmosphere would have been miserable at best, possibly toxic.
Club has done the right thing.

Fantastic news! I do wish they'd have done it sooner. Even earlier this week so I wasn't annoyed all week but better late then never. Wonder if they have been waiting until they pretty much have a replacement lined up.

As much as I didn't mind Michael at the start, it was inevitable it would happen eventually - however I genuinely was not expecting Simon/Ben to make this decision for some reason.

This is a massive week for the club, Saturday is huge, and my god do we need to get this next appointment right. Board have clearly accepted and acted before they thought it was getting too late (which it probably in hindsight already has been).

It was senseless to give him any more time after the Wigan game. He's been a dead man walking for months. All the board have done is make his replacements job more difficult. That said, I appreciate they were honour bound to try and give him time and support. I'm just over the moon he's gone, hopefully all fans can leave this sorry episode behind and focus on doing what we do best, getting behind the lads.

Slightly amended club statement:

"Blackpool Football Club has today relieved Michael Appleton of his duties as Head Coach.

Assistant Head Coach David Kerslake will also be leaving with Michael.

The Club would like to thank Michael and David for their efforts during their time at Bloomfield Road [what bloody efforts?!] and wish them all the best for the future.

The Club hope to be able to announce a new Head Coach in the coming days."

Sounds like someone is already lined up with the new head coach to be announced in the coming days

I think the new coach will be in the Critchley mould again.
People asking for an experienced manager but that brings no guarantees. Appleton and Grayson were experienced, didn't work out.
I want an enthusiastic manager with good ideas that is a natural communicator who can get everyone on board. If he's experienced aswell that's not a problem but I have a feeling he won't be.

If I'm right in what I heard, they had someone lined up in the last few weeks. I just hope they have watched all the videos and can see what's needed.

If I was guessing I'd say somethings have been said during the last couple of days to bring this to a head. As it looked to me they were going to give him more time.
