Are you Roy?I founded Kingsfield.
So so many good players, too many to mention to pick five. The only one I'll mention is as a five side play Paul Maguire was phenomenal.

Andy Lyons

no, not true really. What Kingsfield had was a lot of young players out of junior football who started mens football with them and then went on to play for better teams. My dad used to tell me about how good Kingsfield were. My uncle played for Wrea Green who were apparently quite good but the way he made Kingsfield sound they were a level above everyone
Wasn’t Kingsfield it was king Edward he spoke aboutno, not true really. What Kingsfield had was a lot of young players out of junior football who started mens football with them and then went on to play for better teams.

He was a great guy who loved the game, a proper genuine blokeFavourite ref Phil "Touche" Gent. Loved his match fee, never called a game off, never gave a soft foul
Only played against Wayne Hughes once when he played for Bloomfield Vets. He must have been around 50 and was squaring up to one of the kids on our team saying he'd never been sent off in his career (which somehow I doubt !!). 60 seconds later he took an audacious dive in the box in front of me which resulted in me laughing at him. Ref told him to get up. So he got up and tried to headbutt me and got sent off! If that was his first time, then every credit.Tough one, best five who I’ve managed.
Steve Trainor
Stuart Diggle
Phil Thompson
Wayne Hughes
Kev Curtis
There are so many other good ones who could make this list but those five would be right up there.

Unusual behavour from Wayne, the only thing he ever headed playing for Mammas was the football and he could make that thing talk with his feet, a very talented footballer who loved the social side of the game as much as anyone I knew. We called him Wayne BoozeOnly played against Wayne Hughes once when he played for Bloomfield Vets. He must have been around 50 and was squaring up to one of the kids on our team saying he'd never been sent off in his career (which somehow I doubt !!). 60 seconds later he took an audacious dive in the box in front of me which resulted in me laughing at him. I remember Roy Atkinson knocking on my door in 1978 unannounced and convincing me to sign for Kingsfield. I was 16 and my mum had to sign a form. I remember making my debut on Lawsons road against the Welcome Inn and scoring in a 3-1 win. Sky blue kit I think. A team of quick young lads with a few older heads. Bumped into Roy at a pool game a few weeks ago.Are you Roy?
Ive not seen either of them for over 20 years , so not quite sure.Is this the same one that now lives in Spain ?
Roy is 81 now , still looks well , amazing he kept Kingsfield going for over 50 years .I remember Roy Atkinson knocking on my door in 1978 unannounced and convincing me to sign for Kingsfield. Didn't Neil Mitchell get sent off in that game too?Only played against Wayne Hughes once when he played for Bloomfield Vets. He must have been around 50 and was squaring up to one of the kids on our team saying he'd never been sent off in his career (which somehow I doubt !!). 60 seconds later he took an audacious dive in the box in front of me which resulted in me laughing at him. Yes, last kick of the game if I remember rightly.Didn't Neil Mitchell get sent off in that game too?
My nomination would be Fast Fourier Transformation. Everyone else packed in at 10 pints.Think we should have a thread on best player after drinking 15 pints the night before.
I played with Brent at St Annes Ex Service for a couple of years in the late 70s he was a very good playerI think so. I think I only played with him in work friendlies.
Yeah he was. Also was on the verge of signing from Crewe. Pete and Mick Cleary we’re unplayable as a partnership for the grand. Was Pete Morrell ex Wigan trainee? Might have played with him for a few months for The Royal Bank of Scotland late 80s he was excellent think he was playing for us for a laugh as we were pretty bad.
I remember it well.Yeah he was. Also was on the verge of signing from Crewe. Pete and Mick Cleary we’re unplayable as a partnership for the grand.

Anyone who was as good as Bryan Robson at West Brom (but could still drink him under the table) must have been a characterUnusual behavour from Wayne, the only thing he ever headed playing for Mammas was the football and he could make that thing talk with his feet, a very talented footballer who loved the social side of the game as much as anyone I knew. We called him Wayne Booze
