Blackpool v Barnsley Official Matchday Thread 25.09.21

Perhaps the plan is for us to run them ragged and bring Yates on (70th minute sub, as per) to absolutely break the tiring defenders hearts??

Id like to see Sonny Carey get on today at some point I think he could find a bit of form at the moment given a run in the team. Wouldnt argue against going unchanged though this week.
Definitely like to see him on the bench, but that’s looking very strong and that’s without Gabriel and Stewart on it.

I don't get from a confidence point off view what Critch is doing with Yates. He is our player, was excellent last season and yet a couple of games where he didn't score (mainly down to lousy service) and he's suddenly exiled!
Hardly exiled, he's on the bench

Might help Yates to come on when the game is getting stretched in the second half. If he can notch a goal from open play when things are more open, it might help his confidence when starting in future.

Delighted with Lavery getting another. He looks far more likely to succeed than Yates whom I predicted would struggle at this level and with just one goal from a penalty so far I have seen nothing to change my mind.

Lol, I was just about to say we've really got to score from that TJJ chance, but bloody hell they've just evened it up there!!!!!! 🧡

Very good half that. Keshi superb. You can see Big Ek growing in confidence literally before your eyes. Excellent build up and finish for our goal.
Losing a bit in midfield, a lot of passes going astray, but overall I'd say we deserve our lead and we're doing really well 🧡

What a really enjoyable first half.

We are just better than them so far. Good to score in the first half.

Bowler and Anderson on fire.

A bit more clinical would be helpful. I'd like a second as soon as possible to help my nerves.

Yates is not on the pitch by the way.

He is natural goal scorer and he should be starting before TJJ who is the one we should be worried about

I'd definitely like to see Yates this half, spice things up a bit. TJJ hasn't done badly but I think Yates will add a bit more get up and go and be more of a threat

That through ball from Anderson was just superb, he's had a fantastic first half. And still needed a great finish from Lavery but he's looking the real deal is that lad.

TJJ should have buried his chance for sure but he's getting in the right places and making good runs. However, as much as I do rate TJJ unless Yates is carrying an injury (and he has looked a bit off the pace recently) I'd prefer to have Yates in the starting line up. This isn't like Ballard last year where we haven't got better/as good on the bench. Yates needs time, he proved as much last year. Or maybe that's the plan, leave him til Christmas and then he'll get 20+ in the second half of the season :) . End of the day, both TJJ and Yates are decent so I'm assuming they'll chop and change through the season anyway.

Looking much more assured in midfield, that is really pleasing. Dougal is much more on it today. And the back line looking good, Sterling and Big Ek particularly.

Barnsley forum are saying they are getting overrun in midfield.
