Blackpool v Hull City Official Matchinght Thread 19.10.22

Our strength in depth is just not there so unless we have our 1st 11 on the pitch we are bang average. That said no one has taken the opportunity. Its been a passive, uncreative, ponderous dog doo of a performance. I was expecting a 2nd half rally but its just not happened.

We are in a relegation battle no doubt and on tonights performance Im not sure we have the ability to get out of trouble.

Worst home performance of the season I'm afraid to say. I'm still here, but I really don't blame those who have left, and there's a lot. We've made a poor side look half decent.

The Hull fans are going to enjoy their journey home in their Fiat 500. Their team haven't had to do much to win, that's what has disappointed me most

Credit to Hull, totally exposed our lack of squad depth but they’ve done it with a makeshift forward line.
Truly awful team performance...got exactly what we deserve. Reasons yes but no excuses.... relegation is a very real possibility on this showing... bottom 3 after Saturday?

We’re down to the bare bones with injuries and suspensions
Maybe I’m delusional but I don’t think it’s time to panic just yet

They have a point to prove on Saturday though.
To compete in the Championship, clubs must have a Championship squad, and not just a team that 'may be' able to compete, as long as the first 11 is always fit.
Making excuses around injuries & suspensions doesn't gain sympathy from anyone - we should have players good enough to step in ... but we haen't & that's down to the board.
Our team tonight have lost a game they should have won and Saturday will be a huge challenge & no big Gaz.

We had 3 players sent off on Saturday plus bridutt is carrying an injury from Saturday. Garbutt is 3rd choice left back, Hubby isn't ready to play yet, Madine is carrying an injury, Williams has only just come back from injury and we have other players out injured too.

It doesn't make tonights performance ay the less poor, but we are struggling for fit players or through suspensions. We are also really short of players in key areas because we didn't get the players we needed in the summer.

I put tonight down to injury, suspension and some league 1 standard players having to play. We need some wins and some points on the board but I still think we will be fine. It's a weird league, I don't think we can point the finger at anyone (other than the ** on Saturday) but there's a long way to go yet.

How many times did Theo try to get to the byline/corner on runs and blow possession? Utter waste. We gift teams at least a goal a game at the moment too as we can’t defend.
Not sure what Maxwell could have done any different tonight, other than that Thorniley was ok, and Patino can keep the ball in tight situations but plays it to where a better quality player would be, or was back playing balls to our back line far too often. Weight looked lightweight barring a bit of skill in the first half.
We are very light on quality throughout the squad, as three players out has shown tonight.

I know we had players missing but that was worrying.

Hope we don't get our arse handed to us for the missiles after the second. 👎

It was poor, but not abject as some suggest. Williams is a big downgrade on Marv, Garbutt and Husband haven't been on the pitch in aeons. With the same 11 as Sheffield we wouldn't have conceded the first 2 so softly, and Hull wouldn't have been able to sit back and park the bus. Shit night but I don't think we're in a rut.

I said Saturdays performance was everything I want from a Blackpool team, well tonight was everything I don't want. Slow, turgid football, tactically inept and devoid of quality. I get some of that was due to injuries and suspensions but that was shockingly poor.
