Blackpool v Peterborough United Official Matchnight Thread 23.03.21

Been shocking tonight. Put us under pressure a few times tonight. Not looking at all just hit n hoping. He's better than that
Dougall ended up with 39 successful passes (25 in his own half),13 unsucessful ones and 65 touches overall which was the second highest.
Not shocking but after his MOM performance on Saturday he did frustrate a bit tonight. The better the team plays howver the more we want.
MOM for Gerry tonight but once again a great team performance.
UTMP.

I wonder how many times he broke up play and won the ball. No where near shocking. Below his very high performance rates.

Only real let down tonight was his inability to treasure the ball, not only did he give the ball away with quarter of his passes( and he's hardly trying defence splitting passes) but wax also caught in possession several times.

He's busy and breaks up play well but needs to learn to keep it once he's won it

There were other things to work on but overall a bloody brilliant performance again

Up the mighty Pool!

Go on then, Yates, I didn't give enough credit to earlier in the season. Said something like he was a 12-15 goal striker but he's proved me wrong. That said, Critchley is playing him in a team role far more suited to him than he did earlier in the season.

To add, I thought it was a greqt performance all round. No team is going dominate for 90 minutes and people are going to make mistakes. It happens but we saw out the game really well. They never threatened once in the last quarter or the added time.

I only read this thread after the game. Sometimes I think that I've watched an entirely different match to some people.
In what way? You think we were worse or better than folks are saying?

Edit: I've just seen your response from a few moments ago that i guess answers my question! 😁

I knew that we'd roll them over. The Burton game has changed everything in my opinion. The substitution of Simms at half time to bring Embleton on and playing Kaikai in a more free role has turned us into a far more dynamic side. Stick with it Critch and maybe my bet of £30 at 20-1 to win the league will come in. Perfect 11 anyone ?

Another game, another superb performance. Something happened at half time against Burton, I don't know what was said but we came out and decided to give our more creative players greater freedom and haven't looked back since. It isn't just that though, the whole team looked determined, like they were on a mission and we saw the same against Oxford and again tonight.

I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter who we play in defence; our defensive record is a whole team effort as we are absolutely outstanding without the ball. The work rate and pressing is second to none in this league. We didn't give Peterborough a second to think for the whole 90 mins. We won't win all the games remaining, but one thing's for sure, if anyone wants any points off us, they're going to have to put a serious shift in. This group of players are so professional, they can get dropped and then come back in like they'd never left. They can play out of position and not let it phase them. You never see less than 100% (actually that's been the case most of the season even when we weren't getting results). They are all taking great pride in the shirt which is great to see and all we as fans can ask for.

To win against second in the league with our injury list is immense. I'm starting to think whether we are doing them a disservice by thinking of them as a second string, because i'm starting to think we shouldn't change anything to be honest! Well maybe bring in a centre half, not that Turton did badly tonight, he was excellent.
I don't think it's right to single anyone out particularly after that, it was just a great team effort and performance.

The only real downside tonight is that we weren't all there to give them the ovation they deserved at the end.
Fantastic night. Take a bow 'pool.

I'd also like to say Mitch!

I said a few weeks ago... "I've only just started to appreciate his worth"... or something to the effect. He was class tonight and a real threat/ distraction for the opposition.
I'll readily admit I'm not Mitchell's fan but I've never doubted his effort and comittment and when he does make a mistake he busts a gut to correct it. IMO his best Pool performance tonight. 👍

I'll second that. He's really starting to come in to his own... found myself getting excited when he got the ball tonight (and that takes some doing!).

again as on saturday couldnt really ask for more, Peterborough are a decent side going forward but they really only threatened twice. But defensively they would happily piss around with the ball all day just asking for trouble and when you have Jerry yates along with Mitchell embleton and even Kaikai buzzing around looking for blood like rampant reef sharks with cum in their nostrils the best advice fergy junior should have been giving was hack it into the stands.

not quite worldies and not from who i thought but good goals might have had a couple more with a bit of luck as well.

Absolutely fantastic effort all round that...some obvious man of the match performers there in Yates and Garbutt but fantastic supporting roles from Kai Kai and Ward ...everyone did their bit but I would gave it Yates on workrate and another two in the onion bag

None of this is offered as any criticism of Kenny.
Got a new neighbour on Sunday who's a Barnsley fan. He rated Kenny and couldn't understand why they let him go.

Spot on about the all team defensive effort and collective workrate - that's the base from which we can escape this league 👍

Will the 2 Sunderland games and the Lincoln game decide our fate.

Gretarson was there and is apparently fit, Antwi could have done 10 mins surely. 😃 Given a couple of the lads a rest given Sat Tues games and a depleted squad.

Anyway, didn't matter but, just really don't want anymore injuries now.
Play Saturday and off till Friday so some extra recovery time. To me they should be fine to play Saturday and Tuesday.
