Blackpool v Swansea Official Matchday Thread 13.08.22

Oooh let's get off our seats with his mazy runs.
Then say never mind Josh when he fucks up YET AGAIN
It's a team game yet he always goes for glory.
And saying he's our best player isn't really much of a statement, no one standing out this season Phil😕
Ffs 3 games in

Bowlers gonna get a crook neck if he doesn't start looking up for fucksake.

Their goal was annoying. But it was more annoying that we had a carbon copy of their chance minutes before. If Bowler plays in Yates it's a certain goal.

Nevertheless, we played well today and deserved to score at least. I have faith in appletons system and I think it's just a matter of time before we come good.

We're still better off than we were last season at this point, so onwards and upwards.

I think if we can get patino in from the start at some point soon then we will be amazing. Some of his passes, turns, 50/50s and challenges with Swansea players today looked absolutely class.

We will come good soon, keep the faith and up the pool!

I HATE TO SAY THIS BUT ITS TIMES LIKE THIS I AM GLAD I AM IN SPAIN (BECAUSE IF I WERE GOING HOME AFTER THAT RUBBISH)(YES THAT RUBBISH )I WOULD REALLY BE IN A PROPER SHIT MOOD,GONE BACK 4/5 YEARS IN MY OPINION.
ABSOLUTE SHITE PERFORMANCE,MAYBE THE PLAYERS DONT LIKE HAPPY HAPPY BORING APPYS FACE.
HE HAS TO GO SOONER RATHER THAN LATER ,OR WE ARE IN DEEP SHITE (AND YES I AM ** SHOUTING BEC AUSE THAT WAS EMBARRASING,THIS AFTERNOON).

played well second half Peter

Some people on here need to write comments from the head, not the heart.

Lost the match, failed to score, missed a penalty, got no points. That's the cold reality and all that matters at the end of the day. And it doesn't matter that we're only three games in. That's nine points. We've got three. There needs to be some monumental changes from what we've seen so far if we're going to get many more.

And we got nine points from those fixtures last season

Lavery superb when he came on today.Great to see him fighting for his place and he actually played that role better than he previously has but Id still prefer Lavery to go central and Yates to take up the wide left role if we make that Corbeanu change again.
It makes sense they both play because they can switch which they were doing. I dont think Lavery was superb but he bought an energy that we didnt have in the first half, but i think they were playing to instructions.

I thought we are okay today but it shows the fine lives fiesnt it. 1st half was a bit stand offish but we were solid enough, 2nd half we played better and went after it. Missed pen, missed 2 or 3 golden opportunities another couple of decent chances thrown away so coukd have been 4 or 5 goals. Instead we lost 1 nil to a breakaway. It happens when you are pushing for a win. I think we will be gibe but I do think we need a striker or some kind of goal threat from somewhere who can actually put it in the goal.

Disappointing. Yates should of scored the pen. Bowler had two clear cut chances. Don't understand why we are playing it out from the back and giving it to Marv when his distribution is shit.

I am afraid to say the idea of a 4 year contract is looking increasingly an error. SS error in allowing Mansford to play the ‘my mate is sound’ card.

We look like the keystone cops. If this is ‘attacking, aggressive football’ I’d hate to see what the alternative looks like.

Tangerine glasses aside - it’s dreadful.

Got to put the blame on the manager for me. Everyone who knows football knows Swansea would prefer to make 2000 passes rather than win a game so surely what you do is get into them and stop them passing. We did that for 10 minutes at the start of the 2nd half, got a penalty, then continued to stand off them.

Pretty poor all round.

Next six games coming up and I can’t see us taking many points from them, if I’m honest I’d say 5 or 6 points out of 18 potentially at best (prediction in brackets), but if we come away with less then changes have to be made.

QPR away 16/8. (L)

Burnley away 20/8. (L)

Bristol City home 27/8. (W)

Blackburn home 31/8. (D)

Huddersfield away 4/9. (D)

Boro home 10/9. (D)

I just hope I’m proved wrong 😑

Josh has been our best attacking threat so far this season, but today he was very poor. And this being a football message board, it's reasonable and OK to say so.

I'm a big fan of JB, but today was probably the worst I've seen him play.

  • He only has to square the ball to Jerry, but dallied too long and his poor shot went over, shooting too late as he fell.
  • Another 1 on 1, straight at the keeper.
  • Failed to control several clearances from defence, the ball bouncing off him back to their forwards, leading to a couple of good chances for them.
One game doesn't make him a poor player at all, but he was disappointing today. I'll leave it there, after weathering the poor first half, we didn't deserve to be beaten by a goal on the break like that.

On a separate issue, Patino has to start

Thought we were decent second half, first goal was always going to win it. Missed a penalty, Bowler should have squared it to Yates, then Thompson gets caught on the halfway line.
First half was pants, livened up when Lavery came on, awful way to lose it.
Fuming when I came out, but having thought about it loads better than Stoke game.
Colby Bishop anyone ?

their goal was a sucker puch, and i think Thompson made a bit of a hash of the tackle, we got caught i think twice like that lst year as well from our own corners. Coventry and Cardiff i think. both times were reasonably well taken goals, swansea nearly fluffed it today, but when i saw the replay we had very few players really trying to get back to defend, understand it was late on and tired legs, but to me sums up that the spirit isnt there.

That’s exactly what I said at the end of the first half “where is this attacking aggressive football we were promised?”

Once Lavery came on we were excellent for 30 mins and could have been 2 or three up but for poor decision making when it got to the final ball (a theme for the past 12 months) As soon as we missed that pen I knew Swansea would score a late winner and so it came to pass.

I still think we were the better team but it was disappointing. Too early to judge yet and I’m not entirely convinced by Appleton (and never was) but Critchley got off to a shocking start when he first came in. Let’s see where we are after game 10.

book mark this if you wish ,but if we dont bring a striker in that actually knows what that onion bag is ,we will get no more than 20points before the new year,(s.orry but my glass was starting to get half full ,but now its totally empty )

Whatever the ins and outs of chances we should have scored from, the penalty and all the other second half stuff, we can't keep throwing away 45 minutes. That first half was disgusting.

PS. I would offload Bowler. We need more balance across the pitch.

For me it's obvious after seeing this shambles at Gloomfield.....while PNE win at Luton.....its time for us all to admit that the Nobbers are, and always have been superior .....

From the comments on the board the last couple of weeks I was expecting to see an absolute shambles of a team, looking completely out of depth. Instead I saw a fairly decent performance just missing a bit of gel. Sorry, thought we did well in the second half and deserved at least a point.

There is no way that was embarrassing. We should have got something out of the game.

It’s frustrating for sure. But - it’s a new manager. He has made a few signings. He needs time to get his team to gel and to cement his methods.

We’re only three league games in. We have to give the manager time. Let’s see where we are in February. We can’t get knee jerk about the here and now. So many clubs fall into that trap and never go forwards as they’re always replacing managers.

This is a very tough business. Even tougher if the fans aren’t behind the manager and aren’t prepared to give him a proper chance.

Christ some bollocks on here tonight. If Bowler scores we'd all be saying he's worth 15million minimum. Of course he should have passed to Jerry, and he fucked it up royally - that's why Everton got rid - he has flaws - but he's still our best creative chance.
He was really unlucky not to score in the first half - scabby save by their goalie. Lavery worth a start for his effort alone.
Yates my MOM regardless of the miss, he can deffo play the piano in the Championship. Play him with Lavery and Bowler.
Should've got into them in the 1st half, not stood off and conceded possession.
Carey was v poor, and not the best by LF - but reckon he'll be a good one.
Gotta play LF, Patino, and Kenny in midfield - and hope the defence build some confidence.
Some decent 2nd half moves - tough season but with a bit more luck, we'll be alright.
