Blackpool v West Brom Official FA Cup Matchday Thread 09.01.21

Loco they did, but I'm not sure they did much else, nor do anything else when I've seen them. The whole area of the pitch behind Madine and Yates and ahead of Douggy and Ward is a bit of a mess. The ball doesn't stick in there, get moved on nor threaten.
I didn't see it FCB. I listened on iPlayer (£2.50 if you please) - but the sound I got was better than normal radio, so hey-ho.
Anyway, I'm a Kemp fan but I know he struggled from the start at Bristol. So, expand. Lubala didn't sound good coming from Chizz and Brett. Kemp? Not so good?

I enjoyed that, sad thing is I can't have a beer because I have to drive later, celebrating with a mug of tea just isn't the same.

Sorry, not quite getting what you mean. I've had a few mind!

HUGE congratulations from all of us on at EBFC the South Coast. Better team by a mile. We were shouting at the screen. We'll still be shouting you on all the way to Wembley, and proud that we were a little part of your journey UTMP

I missed this first time. The MD of Eastbourne FC giving us support. Fantastic credit to him and his club

Chorley at home next round please. More TV money and a very good chance of progressing to the 5th round where we would most likely be on telly again.

Well, they're doing their best to keep us off it. perhaps if we get to a Wembley semi-final they might take interest?!

Absolutely over the moon with that, stick that in your pipe and smoke it fat boy. Some cracking performances today from Ward and Ballard in particular. Madine led the line well again linking up with Yates well and Kai Kai even looked up for it so I’ll forgive him for hitting the post. A mention for maxi even though the WBA pens were garbage yo7 still have to save them. Looking forward to the draw. Chorley at home would be nice.

Fat Sam as grudging as ever. R5live interview. They played to their assets by lumping it to Madine...

All they had was long throws and set pieces.

Have a look at the build up to our two goals you fat fool.
Fat Sam begrudging a team that likes to occasionally go direct to the big fella. Oh the irony. The sooner he is out of the game the better as far as I'm concerned. He has all the charisma of a dead pigeon.

Fantastic performance and result, thoroughly deserved. Considering the level of opposition and the fact we were without our main creative outlet in Hamilton, it can't be underestimated the level of our performance.
To pick out a few points:
1. Ward was outstanding. It's taken him a while to get going for us but he's been gradually improving all season and I'd go as far as saying him and Dougall should be able to dominate most midfields in league one. He took some stick when he first signed but he's a great example of how perseverance and hard work can reap dividends.

2. The question "what is Virtues best role" has been answered - and it's not in a defensive holding position.

3. Mitchell looked a lot more determined when he came on than when we've seen him previously. I think he could still be a big asset.

4. I'm amazed aanyone thought the penalty was harsh. Indicating cyclists don't raise their arms as much. As clear a pen for handball as you'll ever see.

5. Yates and Madine worked well together...... again.

6. If I can be nitpicky, we still make bad choices so often when in good positions, and on set pieces we don't attack the ball with any aggression. A large part of our problems this season are mental rather than technical. Also, despite Maxwell being the hero of the day, he does take a long time to come off his line. I'm really being picky after such a great result but just my opinion.

7. Lubala was decent. I think it's difficult to judge when a player has basically been a bit part but I think there's potential there.

8. Critchley got his lineup and subs spot on I thought. Also, I know he's a wealthy man but I'm pleased that SS has another significant cash injection through these difficult times. It really must be costing him a fortune right now.

Last point - it was nice of the commentators to keep mentioning how "Athletic and determined" we were, despite the fact that the only two goals that displayed any kind of creativity, flair and invention came from us.

Great day, in the hat for round four after knocking out an Allardyce managed Premier league club. Superb.

Long throws. I think Mitchell tried one.
I haven't enough fingers to count The Baggies long throws.
We scored 2 goals from well worked moves.
The Baggies scored from a penalty and a corner.
And some posters can't undersand why I don't have time for Fat Sam the shoplifter.

Lubala did ok. His cross set up the first goal. Kemps distribution was part of our second. Both did ok and will get better with more game time.

Agree with all of that although I would still criticise our defence for the two goals we conceded. Simple headed goal with no challenge and yet another stupid penalty. WBA didn't look like scoring otherwise.
