No cash for food and drink anymore. Great move
I'm agin it! Is this still a working man's game or not? Not everyone has a debit card and well stocked bank account. Sorry ..not impressed.
I take it you are winding me up?You don’t have a debit card? How do you do your shopping/withdraw cash?
Do you still hide your money under the mattressI take it you are winding me up?
I have elderly parents who are still worried about non-cash transactions. There are people, young and old who don't have bank accounts. I suggest you think of the old and the less well off before you sneer. And no, I didn't see the humour.Do you still hide your money under the mattress
It's permanent, they said that it's been moved forward because of covid but it was something they were always going to do.Rather than being a permanent measure to 'move with the times', isn't this just another temporary covid safety measure so cash isn't a touch point? Just guessing, does anyone know?
I agree with this being a mistake. I pay through my phone with contact less.I've been very positive with how the club is being ran but this is a mistake imo. How many of the older generation don't like to use cards? I hate using my card for small transactions as they're harder to keep a track off. How many parents are gonna give the kids their card to go and buy some crisps or a drink or a chocolate bar? I don't get why the club would want to limit income, which I'm sure this will do. Why make it more difficult for some people to buy things from the club?
Ah ok, I should've read the article properly! It's a sign of the times but totally get that many of our current fans would prefer cash. They may however embrace it if they don't have to queue as long. It's permanent, they said that it's been moved forward because of covid but it was something they were always going to do.
Yes, deprive the club of money, that's the way to go, top supporting.Eat and drink before you go in, then no need to bother them for any refreshments. If they don't want your cash, deprive them of it!
Can’t be a pool fan.Eat and drink before you go in, then no need to bother them for any refreshments. If they don't want your cash, deprive them of it!
If, as you sayyou work in a bank, you will know the main drivers behind a cashless country are the banks. Once they get their way just watch the charges start flying in, charge for running your account, transaction charges etc. etc. Just like they did years ago when they lobbied for repeal of the truck act, which for the younger poster gave everyone the right to be paid in cash. That was the top of the slippery slope which we are now halfway down. Before the accusations start flying, I am not a Luddite I use cards myself. But I would like to be able to use them at my convenience, not because someone else tells me I must.I work in a bank and there are older people who don’t have cards and there are vulnerable people who couldn’t possibly cope with cards. However, there’s no doubt cashless is the way it’s going and kids from 11 can have a card account.
I’m not sure how you work that out mate?Makes perfect sense to me time moves on and people have to change.
A very very small percentage of people don't have phone's, Internet and bank cards etc are they the type who would normally spend in the ground I don't think so.
I’m not against advances in a cashless concourse, btw, I’ll find a solution, but really like Bayern’s idea of a club card that can be topped up with cash.Makes perfect sense to me time moves on and people have to change.

Your the very small minority then how on earth do you function without a bank account is unbelievable.I’m not sure how you work that out mate?
I’ve not had a bank account for about 30 years, I’ve always spent in the ground.
So, you think the older and less well off should just do one? Do they get in your way? Do they annoy you? Are they an inconvenience?Makes perfect sense to me time moves on and people have to change.

They can get cards you can use but can't go in to debt on... I got my first one in 1996Do kids have debit/credit cards these days?
Apologies, the joke was bad taste, but the change is where the world is headed. I for one, don’t use cash unless I have to. But that’s just me.I have elderly parents who are still worried about non-cash transactions. There are people, young and old who don't have bank accounts. I suggest you think of the old and the less well off before you sneer. And no, I didn't see the humour.
Your right, a very rare situation I’d imagine.Your the very small minority then how on earth do you function without a bank account is unbelievable.
Agree with everything you say, I’ve no doubt banks want to be cashless, but they know full well it’s a long way away. The amount of cash withdrawn from atm machines is enormous and there’s the black economy. If, as you sayyou work in a bank, you will know the main drivers behind a cashless country are the banks.
