Cashless concourses

I usually go to games with a certain amount of cash for my beer and food etc. So i will be eating before the game, drinking inside the ground doesn’t bother me as i can’t stand the plastic containers and it tastes like gnats piss.
I never eat or drink in the ground and rarely drink at the football these days.

I’d have a pint at half time but unless you are prepared to miss the last bit of the first half it’s not really an option. Ordering, cash etc just too long.

Cashless/preordering are the ways to solve that and generate sales.

It's struck me that during the pandemic, the only place I spend cash is the chip shop, as they don't take cards. Everywhere else is card only, including our paper shop.

For those who went on Tuesday, how did you find the concourses? Many wearing masks? Asking for my Dad who is 79 and is concerned (with his weak bladder!) what the concourses will be like in terms of organisation and crowding?

My chippy takes cards. And they built a shelter with entrance and exit so people could order though a window they made into a hatch. Always felt very safe and reassuring.

Three Fishes ! Excellent chippy , my local and favourite.
TinyTractor goes there most days. It's almost the only thing he eats, being autistic he's very fussy. He doesn't do chocolate, sweets or crisps or fizzy drinks, so on balance eating a big chunk of fish every day isn't too bad.

To be honest, this is the right way forward. The concourses aren't fit for purpose anyway and being cashless isn't going to be the make or break of whether a lot of people buy or not. The lack of space and massive queues they cause are the problem. If we're being honest, this is a bigger problem for the club to fix as more people will be 'denied' the chance to spend by this, than by the club not taking cash.

Totally agree @straightatthewall - bad enough last season, I think they'll be hideous this season (West Stand) and might have to join the flask brigade!

It was as you'd expect some people wearing masks out of personal choice and some not. It wasn't too busy but crowd size was the main factor.

I'd say if there is a major concern then maybe going 5 mins before the peak time maybe the best option, although I suppose the call of nature dictates that.
