I enjoyed 'Parasite' on Film4 a few nights ago. It won the best picture Oscar a couple of years ago. Sometimes the concentration necessary to read subtitles draws you in to a movie and enhances the experience.

I also recently watched 'Sexy Beast', I think on C4 catchup. Worth seeing just for Ben Kingsley's out-of-character performance as a sociopathic London gangster

American reviews aren't very encouraging. All saying he looks like a chiesiled gym boy and Reacher just isn't that, also he comes over as smug. Too polished rather than the more hoboesque character of the books. Be a real shame if they've fucked it up, it should be a brilliant thing to film but so far the directors, writers, characters are just not getting the Jack Reacher of the books.
I've never read the books but enjoyed Cruise's portrayal of the character, it made a change from watching some muscle-bound heavy.

I’m not a fan of Ricky Gervais either, however in under 5 minutes (people that have watched will what I’m on about 😂)
I thought yeah this going to be good.
Anyone watched Outlander? Series 6 starts in March. Can’t wait.
The Accountant is a good film.
I agree with your comment about the Accountant, well worth a watch

Yep, watched all five series of Outlander and looking forward to series six. Series one was brilliant, series two less so, and then back on form for series three and especially series four. Series four was that good I couldn't wait to get started on series five! And to be honest I found series five to be a bit flat after the heights of series four.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of Reacher and so far enjoying it. True to the book, gritty and very violent, Reacher looks like you might imagine, the only thing that I think is lacking is a bit of humility and warmth to Reacher, maybe that will come. Much better than I thought it might be so that's a great thing as I love the books. Could be a long running series..... 27 books so far!

Just watched the first episode, and it was spot on with the book from what I remember. Very good indeed. The actor looked a bit well groomed compared to the disheveled hobo type character described in the books, but otherwise I was very impressed. Looking forward to watching the remaining 7 episodes over the next few days , I hope there are going to be more series, as it looks like this 8 part series just covers the first book "Killing Floor"

Apparently they want to cover as many of the books as they can, not sure how they can do that though unless they cherry pick, maybe 2 seasons a year?

I’ve nearly finished Reacher. I’m a big fan of the books and pleasantly surprised with how good the series is.
I read an interesting article a few days back, exploring the reasons why fans would never be 100% happy with any actor playing the role, basically saying there isn’t an actor out there who ticks all the boxes.
For me, I always imagined Tom Berenger’s features on a giant bloke!

I’ve also just finished Yellowjackets, which I thought was very good, but hoping we get the whole story in just one or two more series’.

I ended up watching the first 3 and I am really enjoying it. It's a long time since I had the first book so I have forgotten a lot about it. Amazon want to cover one book every season and it looks like they want to do them all!! That's fine by me, 2 seasons a year would be great.

It would be wrong to do them all. Reacher would be older than us by the time Blue Moon kicked in!

We'll get another 2 in tonight, good stuff!

Watched The Tinder Swindler last night .. have to admire some blokes balls (not literally!).
yep watched it a couple of days back. Amazing how he got away with it and even more amazing that he got out of prison, was it after only five months and is now in another relationship and doing very well for himself. Makes you wonder if there could be a part two about him in a few years where he's up to his old tricks again.

I’m a late starter so only just got around to watching Narcos and Narcos Mexico. Absolutely awesome both series.

Just started Ozark and although very watchable, I’m not raving about it after 5-6 episodes. Will stick at it though.

Sinner is excellent series, amazing that the BBC had first dibs on it and put it to BBC4

I'm actually really enjoying Reacher....it's a very tongue in cheek and it goes for the easy watch but the story is very good.
Would have preferred it to follow a sort of True detective/Bosch, grittier type idea......but it's a decent watch....

All of us are dead is also very good on Netflix.....if you enjoyed Train To Busan & Korean zombies........then this is really good......I even shed a tear on the last episode

Boiling Point with Stephen Graham (dodgy stream sites) is very good.....Imagine 1 night with Gordon Ramsey on PMT....and more swearing!!!

1883....Best Cowboys & Indians series since Lonesome Dove/Deadwood.....7 episodes in and it's brilliant...a 9/10.....and Tom Hanks pops up as well!!

I really enjoyed Reacher and the last 2 episodes were really good.

All of us are dead is really good too, lots of action but you do get to feel for the characters, only done 8 sofas but it has been a good zombie fest, much better than the Walking Dead.

I am going to start 1883, love Westerns and this looks the business, I watched all the Deadwood episodes a few months ago and the movie and that was absolutely superb.

The Righteous Gemstones looks good too, which is on Sky, I will be checking that out soon.

Just finished Godfather of Harlem (2 series with a third being made).

This is one of the best things I've seen for a long time. Absolutely loved it. Forrest Whittaker and a brilliant cast which tells the civil rights movement story with real characters (Malcolm X, Mohammed Ali etc). Just absolute quality.

It's on Starzplay. If you have Amazon Prime then it's an add on but you can get a free week trial. I actually have kept it as it's another £3.99 per month and is brilliant with a tonne of really interesting stuff on there.

Binge watched Reacher on Prime - easy viewing 7/10. If you like the books you'll like this and far better than anything Tom Cruise produced.

On the third episode of Reacher, the guy is big enough and the fights are good and look like the book, but the acting is awful.

Just up to the last episode of The Righteous Gemstones (Sky) which is a dark comedy based on TV evangelists in the USofA, stars John Goodman and also Danny McBride who writes it to as well as Walter Coggins.

Very funny in parts but also pretty dark too, a bit of a hidden gem (pun intended) and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Finished the excellent Ozark last week and can't wait for the new series in January.
Gonna start the new [third] series of You. The first two series were very good, especially the first.
I've watched the first 6 episodes, I'm finding it really hard going, so much so I reckon I'm going to give up on it. Similarly I watched 6 Boardwalk Empire and got bored with it. I'm on with Reacher, I've read all the books but the series is a little cheesy.

Just finished Tinder Swindler on Netflix and feel I’m a lot less gullible than I thought I was ☺️ What a wicked man though.

Just finished the first episode of Chloe from BBC1. Not sure what to make of it so far.

She is alright for a copper 😜🤗
It's a great show and I am amazed every criminal in America doesn't watch it religiously.
They fold so easily once they realise they have not done the perfect crime 😁

I'm just up to date onto season 2 ep 4 so got to wait every week now. It is the most dysfunctional family on TV I reckon, very funny and very dark, it gets better too so you are going to really enjoy it. I think it is a much watch personally.

I knew within the first ten minutes or so I was going to love it.. I don’t know why but the scene when they reversed over the blackmailers really amused me.. rather sick I know! Anyway thanks and if there are any more little gems please let us know! Have you watched Six Feet Under? That’s very good…
