OT - Mason Greenwood

Playing devil's advocate, this is another example of trial by social media. The evidence does look irrefutable, but she should have gone to the police rather than post on Instagram.
Playing devils advocate the other way, what would have happened? The police go to United, who would shield and protect their player and it would all probably go away. I mean you only have to see the number 10 party fiasco to see the cover-ups that go on.

It’s a sad indictment of the world now that it’s probably worse for him that she posting it on social media.

Agree entirely. The internet though has gone into meltdown, he's already guilty irrespective, that's my issue.

As my lad points out, it makes you wonder what Gareth saw in him during that Iceland trip.

So that the Man U lawyers can start filing gagging orders again and let the “two sides to every story” and “she’s just doing it for attention” brigade get their 2p in?

It happens every time. I think she’s been quite smart going so public, paints him well and truly for what he is.

No I get that, but she might not have wanted to take it further but knows this does more damage.

Either way, if it is him and it doesn’t so great, it is the lowest of the low.

Southgate hasn’t included him in squads for a reason, maybe this is it.

This is disgusting if he’s done it, I just hate the attitude of some footballers in this day and age whereas in the old days they get treated like gods and now they surround themselves with vultures like agents and friends and have got a mindset where they got lots of zeroes in their bank account and they think they can get away with anything and that makes me sick. The police and Man Utd need to sort this out as professionally and in the right way as possible.

Hopefully this sort of attitude is still in the minority?

I met many girls at the gym who’s ambition in life is to be a ‘wag’ which can fuel the narcissist in men

This world has a lot of growing up to do and there’s very little evidence than social media is helping

She should have done exactly whatever the fuck she wanted to do.

Totally agree.

However BFC x3. What suggestion do you have for subsequent scenarios where social media is used to mislead for reasons of revenge or otherwise? Is this not reason a legal system was first instigated? Or is trial by social media the blueprint for the future? Do you think that will work out well once righteous indignation at horrible individuals has been satiated?

With such strong evidence surely the first recourse would be a trip down the police station that would have set the wheels in motion and ensured the matter was dealt with in an appropriate way?

I'd worry that going public on social media (never a good idea generally right?) will allow for obfuscation. However, I am not educated in the legal process like others on here.

If the allegations are proved true (and its looking pretty likely with supporting audio clips and photos) then i wonder what will happen to his career?

I’d like to think that will be curtains, and rightfully so, but unfortunately strikers are in short supply. At the very least i’d hazard a guess his united career is over.

I wonder if this could also mean prison time? What a waste of all the privilege he’s been given!

If someone wants to show their mate, their boyfriend's mates or the entire internet their injuries / evidence, then that is entirely their choice. The option to tell / show other people has existed long before the internet and it's not a trial... It's simply public opinion and (as things stand) we live in a free country, where people are allowed to think what they want, regardless of the legal system.

Frankly I find telling a woman who has just had her nose bust or been raped by her boyfriend what the "appropriate way" for her to react to that situation, all a bit ** condescending to be honest.... The appropriate way as far as I'm concerned would be taking a baseball bat to the **'s legs, if it were my daughter. Of course it isn't my daughter and I'm fully aware that my reaction would not be legally appropriate, but frankly, in those circumstances I really wouldn't give a shit.

Of course, if someone commits a crime or damages a person's reputation by manufacturing a situation, then if that is proven, they deserve to be dealt with appropriately. Of course, trial by media / internet or not, the accused won;t be subject to any legal punishment without a proper legal trial and the evidence being heard.

Right now.... I'm glad to see women fighting back.... Cos let's face it, the legal system completely fucks them over on these issues and most blokes will cling to any old bullshit to try and excuse the behaviour or shift the blame....

Just like this case....

"Oh what a terrible woman for showing the world her bloodied lip, couldn't she just have gone quietly to the Police station and allowed it all to be brushed under the carpet as usual"

The club should suspend him immediately regardless. If its proven (or accepted by Greenwood) that it’s his voice on the recording he should be sacked immediately with no pay off at all. His sponsors will all drop him like a stone. Nike have already made a statement.
I hope she has gone to the Police too as if he’s inflicted those injuries and or raped her then he has to get proper jail time

All he had to do was play football and behave and within 5 years he would have been set for life. Instead he allegedly demeaned, assaulted and raped a woman………he deserves to be fully punished.

At least now it will necessitate a swift reaction from his club and those around him. Agree that otherwise it would be defused/covered up, due to the reputational damage aspect for Utd. I expect a suspension by Utd pending any potential legal trial. He won’t be able to continue acting this way for the next year or so, waiting for the extremely slow wheels of justice to find a verdict.

My sister in law is currently in a woman's refuge.

I have seen pictures on my other half's phone that make me feel dead inside to look at. Whilst her partner wasn't a footballer, he was a powerful individual with connections and a reputation. That made her feel extremely powerless. He was extremely good at coercing her. Making the assumption that by putting on social media she's trying to 'stir up trouble' is, I think a bit of a simplification - as the partner of someone famous or powerful, you probably feel as if the reputation and status of the person you are with precedes them. I will make it clear, my sister in law was not battered by anyone famous, just a ** scumbag local gangster type with a reputation in a few postcodes.

What Greenwood's partner has done is to blow that power out the water. As others say - she's now put the whole 'lets hush this up, manage, make a pay off and make it go away' thing to bed and thus, in some way, made things more 'equal'

He’s a coward is what he is, yet its the last thing he’d let you call him and the complete antitheses of what he projects himself to be to the outside world I imagine.

I hope your sister in law is able to rebuild her life safely and hope he gets the justice served upon him that he deserves.

Did you? Did you really? They said that to you did they? They walked up to you and volunteered this information?

Or did you make this up?

I'm intrigued.

** women eh? Turning innocent men into narcissists.

She's coming to stay with us in a week or so. We'll look after her.

Strange response to my post…. I don’t at any stage remotely lay any blame on women in my comment Narcissistic men are the issue.

Plus, yes people have conversations regularly at the gym. That is a comment I have had.

I’m sorry you’ve had personal experience in your family of narcissistic men. It’s not my intention to condone or to lessen.

I get your point Chunks 👍

I get you are saying that it’s the men being the narcissists that’s the problem and that they thrive on certain traits.
Much like groomers thrive on the very vulnerable.

And I totally get that you are insulting the men and not be women.

Probably much better put than I did Lala.

It’s another emotive subject and sometimes people can be sensitive towards reading what’s not actually being said.

I know a couple of girls who wanted to be wags, they made it known. It can make them more vulnerable into attracting someone who would rather exploit that ambition than actually love and care for them.

I love being single 😆 I sleep very well at night 🥰

Sorry to hear that pal, I hope she is ok and I hope that scumbag gets found out and locked up as soon as possible, honestly there’s a lot of vile moronic idiots out there and it makes me angry 😡

Just been having a chat with some others (men & women) about this....

And this was said......
Forget it's Mason Greenwood....forget it's a footballer....forget you know the person.....
If your daughter/Friend plays you a recording where....
The woman on the recording says...."I don't want to have sex with you"
The man on the recording says..."You're f###ing going to"

That's rape......
Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration carried out against a person without that person's consent

If she decides to press charges...........He's going down

That’s very sad bud. I did some work in a woman’s hostel a few years back. I didn’t know what to expect but I was surprised that most of the women where clearly very educated and ‘middle class’. It said to me that it must be much more widespread that I probably expected. We had to deal with an ex partner turning up banging on the windows of a flat. Scary for her.

Being consistent with my views on Oyston, he should not be allowed in a football stadium until all resolved. The game is a massive influence on societal attitudes and kids are not daft. His presence condones this type of disgusting behaviour.

If true and from the footage and photo's I have seen there is a strong evidence for the lad to be arrested and taken into custody.

She's definitely not wanted in her life. Which, without getting too personal is all part of the issue.

The posts above on 'WAG' stuff are really quite close to the mark. It's been plain for a long time that she's valued the material things others can give her above moral qualities (yet, she's lovely, the kindest soul in the world) and attached her self worth to labels and bling and instagramable things.

That's all too easily exploited by someone who wants a toy, not a partner. It, as others said, attracts people with a cruel and narcissistic streak.

It's grim shit. I honestly don't think she knows how a non toxic relationship functions even though she's intelligent, educated and lovely.

I'll possibly delete this cos it's not my stuff to talk about really but she's from a long way away so it's almost certainly not anything anyone can put to a face or a name.
