Pilley Sentencing Sweepstake

Alex Belfield received 5 and a half years for so called stalking. Basically calling the BBC out.

Yet some nonces just seem to get a slap on the wrist. You can halve anything they give anyway. Sentencing appears to be a lottery.

Hope they throw the book at him. They need to deter his sort from ruining lives.

With further thought I reckon LaLa is in with a great chance of the first prize (a season ticket at FTFC)

Not his first time falling foul of the law, although unrelated and shouldn't be taken in to consideration, I know many a sentence reflecting 'an unrelated past' come sentencing.
My guess is between 7 to 8 yrs, probably nearer the upper end due to him already being found guilty on all counts.

Sentencing is due week after next and he will be cosied up on B Wing at his majesty's pleasure within Preston.

Dependent on length of sentence I anticipate he will be categorised B and will probably end up quite quickly in Garth.

There's a full list of sentencing guidelines on this website.

Just looking at Fraud, he's going to get at least the minimum 7 years due to size, scale and harm done and the fact that he headed it up.

I suspect it may go slightly higher, so he serves the full 7; out by 2030.

And then they start looking for the proceeds of crime.

And his reputation which FTFC and giving out corporate to a select few Seasiders had done a decent job of rehabilitating - is in tatters.

Cue "we know what you are..."

Oi!! I said 7 first!! After some shilly shallying I admit.

By the way. Is this a game you play with your clients as you’re waiting for the verdict? Must go down well 😂

Fraud always seems to get a bigger sentences than manslaughter for some reason. Jeffrey Archer and Jonathan Aitken to name two. If Pilley is not a member of the conservative party might get a lighter sentence.

What else has he been charged with .

I have always kept away from commenting on Pilley, as he has always had plenty of friends on here ready to jump on anyone who is even vaguely critical. Even I , all this way away, is aware of comments from businesses about what they got taken into, staff who worked for him saying some pretty nasty stuff. This was a long and complex trial, remarkable under reported ( did he have a privacy order to stop speculation?)

The sheer numbers involved would suggest a considerable custodial term, it seems unlikely that he will be able to claim to have totally cooperated. Conviction of others suggests a serious organised fraud. As 7 has already gone, I'll say 6.75 years.

We all take the pxss out of the Cods, but it would be terrible if it did lead to closure of their club. Do they have any players worth nicking if there is a fire sale?

Cat A implies an organized and deliberate fraud, it's not clear to me that this is the case here, it looks to me more like a disorganized and badly run business that has drifted from legitimate business to fraudulent activity without any intent to do so.

But without the details, everything is guesswork.
Nah, not with remand, it's deliberate and a fairly open secret to anyone who worked there.

LaLa came straight out with a very precise 7 years 4months. You dithered with no definitive guess, sorry

There is a remarkably long list of the local good causes he has supported - with some big£ sums - going back years. An asset to the local community, without any doubt, and should work in his favour. - 2 years -suspended?
Without more facts we are just guessing.

What about taking any past convictions into the consideration of the sentencing?

As he is held in custody I am certain he will serve time.
Maybe 6 years with a 2 year suspension.
In other words he will serve 2 years on good behaviour.

If as you say he has supported the good causes with big£ sums, all by miss selling contracts to small business owners costing them millions of £, (some of whom went bankrupt because of him, then he deserves all he gets

I must confess that around 10 years ago, we got involved in a wrangle over an energy contract. And trying to terminate it - which was punitive and also very difficult to do. I suspect that could well have been similar to what has been going on here. Can’t remember for the life of me the name of the company involved.

Don't be fooled by sentence lengths, they don't reflect the actual time to be served. A sentence of 7yrs equates to only 3+1/2yrs actual jail time with the rest served on licence.

I'm pretty sure that Jaffa was an advocate of bringing back the death penalty. Too harsh?

They didnt think it was terrible when we had our troubles with Oyston .

Some of our fans were sued causing stress and anxiety.

They unfurled a banner with Oyston In whilst other fans from clubs up and down the country supported our fans.

Did Andy Pilley order the Oyston In banner to be removed ?

My initial thoughts were it would be a terrible shame if it led to the closure of their club but ive had a rethink.

Well we might discuss it on a Fleetwood fan site if they had one.

Are there any other topics you don't want us to discuss in the Off-Topics section ?

The absence of real discussion of the case and its implications on what passes for a forum at the club is very, very strange.

I bet he wishes he had been selling useless PPE to the Govt instead of energy to the public. There would have zero chance of a prosecution and he would have made more money.

Lots of vociferous folk on here who kept banging on about what a top bloke he was and he should be Blackpools new owner post Oyston seem to have gone very quiet recently 🤔
