See the panic buying is at its worst

Was in Morrisions today and it was heaving. Never seen it so busy, so much so that the contactless network crashed. I got declined using contactless and had to go chip and pin. It is getting out of hand now. Some people really are selfish. I just hope there is a delivery tomorrow for any elderly who haven't been able to shop yet. When will it end?

I went to Waitrose in Cambridge and it was just the same as usual, plenty of stock, people just buying normally. I was happy to see that.

Daughter went and said it was ridiculous, she didn’t know where the end of the queue was so she parked the trolley up and left!

Went to Morrison’s yesterday in the afternoon yesterday and the locusts had been in the morning and bought all the cheap chavvy stuff so didn’t bother me. All the fresh chicken had gone I bet they took it home to freeze. Farm Food and Iceland must have sold out. We needed a few bits to go with our our locally sourced ribeye steaks so went to M&S Food today.
What a pleasant experience, no riff raff and a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at the pub

It's the petrol crisis all over again but I see both sides of the argument but feel free to add suggestions on my bog roll thread as I'm running out. 👍

Oh the Irony, You do realize, You added to it

Lucky I just got outta London all friends there say No toilet rolls , Cereal, Eggs ..or cat litter as they think their cats will get the virus !..Meanwhile in Suffolk, people are just buying as normal.....so far :)

Asda Cherry Tree Rd yesterday was no different to any other Saturday afternoon, managed to get in and out with the few bits I needed with minimal effort.

Had to pop into Home Bargains to get some wall paper paste...... 🤔

2 women were arguing over who was getting the last pack of 'man size' tissues.....Bloody TISSUES...😳
At Aldi they have put a maximum of 4 tins per product.
Booths have also been doing their bit...
There is a great offer on French Goats Cheese and Loose Kalamata Olives with garlic and lemon are 10% off.....
oh and there is a cheeky new world 2017 Sauternes at only £14 a bottle...No ques, no rationing....not many customers.

Not sure how people going to Morrisons trying to do their weekly shop now means that they are a panic buyer.. people still need to eat.
I wasn't even doing a weekly shop, I did that last week and will do so this week (if anything is left) I was buying a pack of tobacco and rizla. I was simply ppinting out the strain and effect the panic buying is having.

Just to add, people in there were not just doing their weekly shop. You could see what was in trolleys at the tills. Mounds if essentials that you would never use within a week. The woman at the kiosk said to me that she had never seen it so busy and it is ridiculous how much people had bought yesterday.

My point was just because you was in Morrisons doesn't mean you was panic buying, and that you was adding to the selfish idiots that are. You shouldn't have to explain to someone that you was only buying cigs..

We do a shop weekly, and also seen people clearing the shelves.. my mum couldn't even get 1 pack of mince or spaghetti this week to make spag bol... Meat shelves are cleared. She went to 3 shops just to get a pack of chicken. But because we was in the middle of a usually pretty quiet supermarket, doesn't mean we are adding to it, does it?

She also overheard a guy offer a woman £10 for a £1 bottle of milk..... The world's gone mad...

Fighting over tissues? Ah, that much vaunted British bulldog/blitz spirit that'll see us through.
Clearing shelves without a thought for anyone else, such selfish idiots.
Saw a couple on Friday with what looked to be at least ten boxes of eggs. Eggs ffs.
If we really do have another month or two until this peaks, how can this behaviour carry on?

I know you wasn't accusing me mate. Hence my thumbs up to your post 👍

It can't mate. We just have to hope that a new delivery arrives today/tomorrow. I have three kids and have to shop on a weekly basis, so haven't been last week. Just hope essentials are left when I and others go.

If your struggling to find things, as much as it costs a little bit more, try smaller Tesco's, newsagents and spas 🤫.. people tend to venture to the bigger stores.. we have atm found we have been able to get things from these smaller places. (Including a pack of bog roll 😂...)

Only a matter of time before people start to rinse these stores aswel though 😒

It's more than a week since I've done any shopping. I'll be going for my weekly shop later, I've got virtually nothing in the fridge and a couple of bog rolls left from a couple of weeks ago when I last bought a pack. Should be interesting. 😳😮

Just been to iceland in town centre Only a few people in there, everything fully stocked up and people calmy just buying what they need. No panic

Haven't used my old thermometer for years. Checked it out, it was in poor condition, so went to Boots.
They had one left. Priced at £50 😮
Luckily, there was one left at the independent chemist just down the road for a tenner.

Been into my local butchers [Steve Hope] this morning. Asked him how business was. Said it's gone mental with people panic buying.
Sold 20 big sacks of potatoes on Saturday and 18 yesterday. Crazy people.

Just been Tesco express for coke and lemonade had a look round. No pasta no rice no toilet rolls or tissues no sausages signs up saying about respecting staff as they’ve been abused and threatened. Bloody shocking it’s not the staffs fault we live in a selfish society
Then mopped into lidl no pasta no rice which I don’t eat anyway. No hand soap few packets of toilet rolls on the pallett and only a few boxes of tissues. Why are people panic buying ? I just don’t get it. Really is no need
Went into my local butchers and bought steak puddings and some beef. Will always try to shop local and try to support these small buisnesses the best I can

As I said on another thread, we went to Morrisons Thornton this a.m. to do our normal weekly shopping. Tuesdays are usually quiet.
Not today, it was bedlam. The check-out queues were across the main isle.
However the check-out staff were doing a great job. Every credit to them.
How dare people go on Tuesday who don't go normally? 😉
No Long Life milk, and many other things.
We normally spend about £90/£100 but only £74 today.😒

Don’t worry once the old people start dropping like flies, will be much quieter...😀

Only kiddin...😇
Not in the remotest bit funny.

Not in the remotest bit funny under the circumstances. If you had the presence of mind to write "only kiddin" before you hit the send button then why post in the first place.

So people who are going to the supermarket to fill their cupboards are naffed off because lots of others are doing the same? Just order online or use the smaller shops for bits and pieces, I'm sure they will welcome your custom.

Just popped out and went to a Tesco Express for some eggs and they had none. Next door is a lovely greengrocers which I haven't been to for a while so bought some broccoli, courgettes , apples, pears and blueberries and then spotted free range eggs , all were in plentiful supply. I also buy meat from the Butchers. It was like shopping with my Mum 50 years ago

I went at 7:05am this morning... thinking I'd let the (inevitable) horde of people queuing go in first... the car park was already over half full and queues at the checkout (and lots of "missing" items)… can't find ibuprofen anywhere (except the £3 a box stuff - which I'm not paying on principle). Will just have to put up with pain if I get some🙃

Ibuprofen is said to be an accellerant to viral infection. The Chief Medical Officer said until further data relating to it's use and COVID19 is available to use an alternative.

Agreed Steve and Shirley are totally mental.

That's what everyone should be doing - support local trade, shun the idiots and the supermarkets and just keep calm and carry on!

Just been to local shops in Layton. All I wanted was some Crisp n dry sunflower oil for cooking. Had to queue for 20 minutes to pay.
Going out shopping with the missus when she gets home later. God knows how bad it'll be and what we can get.

Our local Sainsbury's on line shopping has no available slots for the next 3 weeks, having gone last night just before ten to miss the hordes I found a near empty shop, no not people but just about everything, bread of any sort no vegetables no milk, although I see they are opening their stores at 7am tomorrow for the oldies to shop before the bulk of shoppers arrive, not sure how they will police this but what is the alternative.

If it helps, B and M Bargains in Cleveleys was virtually empty at 9:30am this morning. I was in there for cable ties (a gardening project 😀 ) but they had plenty of food for anyone who's short.

Farmfoods on Devvy Rd has more cars in the car park than stock in the freezers, Lidl across the road is no better with no chicken and empty freezers.

Whitstable, why don't you make an order anyway, and then go and collect it?
Takes all the hard work out of shipping.
Or is that cheating? 😉

TP99, we’ve tried our normal weekly shop after thinking all will be OK and not resorting to panic buying.

Empty shelves in 3 stores and not got the essentials. We are not being told the truth otherwise shelves would be restocked overnight. At this rate it would take 6 or 7 artics to restock Morrison’s now to pre-lunacy levels.

I feel the same but can’t take the paracetamol coz we’ve run out and the locusts have cleared the shelves. Pharmacy at Asda was even closed.
