Forget about Nixon, if the interviews have been completed the club will have kept it quiet about who they really want.
As some people have already stated on here, it could be someone that's not been mentioned.
The bookies will start reacting to any news sometime soon.
 
So what do we reckon then, are we closer?

The best we have gotten in terms of an actual confirmation was from Aidan McCartney (verified journalist with the Manchester Evening News) at 2:10pm on Friday afternoon. He said we were "Close to confirming Liam Rosenior as their new head coach." He has never broken anything about us before so it's not like he's 100% accurate, but if he is then my guess would be that-

1. Mansford and the board finished the interviews on Thursday and decided to go with Rosenior.
2. Rosenior, his agent and the board negotiated his contract on Friday.
3. They finished negotiations later on Friday, but didn't want to announce it because it was too late and if they waited until Monday, they could announce early in the day to dominate the news cycle.

Maybe I'm off and maybe we still haven't decided who the boss is and the flurry of news at the end of last week was all just hype driven by betting odds.

It's all just speculation until the club announce something.

(Really hope I'm right and they announce first thing tomorrow, because I think Rosenior would be a very good hire 🤞 )

I had a hunch that Rosenior was the brains at Derby and Rooney the motivator.
But that sounds like Rosenior is the full package. And could well be capable of better things when not hamstrung by the shitshow he had to deal with last season.

Can see the logic in your post. If there is no announcement tomorrow though, they might not have finished interviewing. Read somewhere that Evatt was on holiday this week. The mind boggles!

Indeed, that timeline is just based on everything we know right now, but like I said, until the club releases a statement we just won't know.

We can guess and look at odds all we want, but ultimately the club keeps a very tight ship (which I honestly appreciate, because it's a sign of a thorough and grounded process) so at the end of the day it's all just guess work on our part!
 
Watching the odds move is all we have now because its a very tight ship.
When Mr Sadler and his team are ready then we will see things happen, from someone nowhere in the betting, 33/1, 12/1 to odds on.
That's the great thing about our club now.

Could it just be that it was the weekend? Football managers and chairmen and all that might just go.

It could be that we're nowhere near as close as some think we are, the betting markets have rallied behind LR based on the understanding that we've spoken to him plus the collapse of Derby's takeover and there's nothing more to it than that, everything else put out by Nixon and others is them following the odds.
 
I expect something today/tomorrow. We need to start cracking on with recruitment. The players must be back in 2 to 3 weeks with the season starting early.
 
There’s no practical benefit to stringing it out any longer. The weekend was probably about getting contracts and the media / PR sorted for making the announcement today.

I suppose it’s conceivable that we might have seen a shortlist further interviews today, but there are other indicators (such as Duff re-engaging with Barnsley) that suggest we’ve possibly made our decision.

I was reading that Sadler has a recruitment team in place although I guess that the new manager will have his own ideas

Interviews only finished at the end of last week and if we hadn't selected a suitable candidate I would have thought that the status of the interview process would still be ongoing whereas the status is complete.

I would imagine we have been going through the finer details of any contract with the chosen candidate and agent and because of that I wouldn’t really expect to hear until early this week coming.

Odds haven’t changed yet so presumably either people have stopped betting, or the bookies haven’t a clue what’s going on.

There are a few clues that it’s (fairly) imminent…

Nixon has said that the interview process is complete. That is likely to be something he would be aware of.

Duff has seemingly re-engaged with Barnsley. And those discussions ground to a halt the moment that Blackpool opened discussions with him.

The betting odds have settled, so that suggests there’s no more activity (interviews or info) prompting a change in the betting.

And also we’ve had a few people online (who would likely have access to some info) suggesting that the deal with Rosenior is done.

We also know that the Club like to get the media & PR stuff done before a announcement and that Critchley announcement followed a similar pattern.

Of course it could all be bollocks, but I’m inclined to think that there’s something more than simply following the bookies involved…

A lot of this is circular rather than complimentary. The odds settle so various journalists with no connection to Blackpool FC decide the can say it’s done. Then other journalists say it’s done, so it becomes a crescendo of journalists saying it’s done. Doesn’t mean it’s done.

And of course for a journalist covering Derby or Manchester to say ‘Liam Rosenior is going to Blackpool’ is cost-free. If it turns out not to be the case, their audience will probably forget it, especially with all that’s going on at the moment.

Unless Matt Scranton, Sean McGinlay or BBC Lancs put their neck on the line and say something is imminent, I’m not going to start reading too much into this collection of reports/claims.

Appreciate what you’re saying, however it feels a bit to me like you’re happy to just dismiss anything and everything just to suit your perspective.

Of course it could all be bollocks and of course nobody knows for certain, but there’s certainly clues that suggest an imminent announcement…Not least that the interviews are very likely to be done and that’s the natural time to make a decision..

I mean what reason is there to wait and waste another week at this critical time, unless you really have to ?

I don’t have a perspective, just looking objectively at that facts and trying to cool peoples nerves if they don’t hear anything today! Which is highly, highly possible!

Seems Cheltenham media now reporting Duff to Barnsley, so that’s one thing.

In fairness though you’re not looking objectively at the facts at all. You’re taking a biased opinion and then dismissing anything that doesn’t fit as rubbish.😂

So in essence you’re offering a counter position as opposed to objectivity.

There’s already been a number of different alternative sources all independently reporting different information that all leads us to the same conclusion….looking at that objectively there’s more to suggest an imminent announcement than not.👍
 
Anyone know if Rosenior was at Derby when Keogh was fired off? Wonder how their relationship stands currently. Could be something to watch.
