Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

Bange is nowhere near Championship standard, Beesley is injured and both Lavery and Yates are not exactly tearing up the Championship. Madine is not getting any younger and don't know where Holmes fits into the scheme of things. Colby Bishop impressed when playing against us for Accrington and it's possible App sees some potential in him.
Yates and Madine had zero service last season, and both bagged a few goals. Creativity has to be prioritised for me.

If Bishop signs do you think we'd have to drop at least one striker from the final squad list from Yates, Lavery, Madine and Beesley?
Yates would seem to be the most likely target for other clubs.

Unless we’re giving him away and paying a significant chunk of his wages I can’t see anyone taking Yates

You’d imagine Beesley out on loan when he’s fit, or someone in for Jerry.

Summer business is really coming along nicely, momentum is really starting to build.

Fiorini is a great signing and will add goals and assists. Rogers and Lyons will both be quality additions in positions that we need bodies in (LW and RB).

Colby Bishop (if it happens) is in a position that we aren't desperate for, but quality is quality.

I'd assume we'll go back in for Dele-Bashiru or another CM again before the window closes too.

Squad needs are being addressed while improving the overall quality of the team. 🍊

And dont forget Rhys Williams. 😉

Starting to move now, I like the look of Bishop. We're also not the only Championship side that's been after him, knobbers and Huddersfield have both been interested in him as well. Hopefully we get him.

He is one of 'those' players who I thought always played well against us and was a real threat

Colby Bishop is a class class signing, 12 goals in 4 assists in a very mediocre Accrington team, at 5'11" he's big enough to hold the ball and win headers, but not too big to where he can't be mobile.

He's a bit of a late bloomer so we'll be getting a player who is just getting into the peak of his powers.

WhoseScored says that last year he had an average match rating of 7.13/10, which is pretty high for a striker who only scored 12 times, which indicates to me that he's a very well rounded player.

That 7.13 rating is higher than other notable attacking players in League 1 such as Ronan Curtis, Oladapo Afolayan, Lee Gregory, Callum Lang, and Cameron Brannagan...

Very excited about this.

Scored 20 goals in 66 league one appearances for Accy. Yates scord that in 44 appearances for us, and according to some has struggled to make the step up (I don't think he's getting the service though). So will be interesting to see if he can make the step up - it's not always about the stats I guess.

In fairness though we had a very good team in League 1, bar the blip at the start we were arguably the best team in the league - Accrington are bang average

Do people still think we have a small transfer budget now 🤔

We've now had a 200k bid in for a RB, 500k bid in for a striker, and 500k+ bid for a CM, that puts our budget well over 1 million and that's only accounting for the bids we know about/ have happened so far.

I've said it before and I will say it again, the board have done very little if anything at all to make people doubt their ambition and commitment, they deserve the benefit of the doubt when things might not look like they're coming off.

Only the impatient bed wetters hold that view AT 🤣🤣

You’ll re coupe that off Ipswich though

Possibly they've called of the Wednesday bid and decided to spend the money on Bishop instead.

There was a rumor that Huddersfield are interested in Keshi Anderson, as they are in the process of selling a couple of players for big money
to Nottingham Forrest maybe they have the cash to make an offer now.

Accy manager John Coleman said after Sat defeat to Preston about Colby"He gets manhandled all the time. particularly when defenders can't handle him, and they couldn't handle him for the first half hour, he was too good for them in the air, he was too strong for them

Wednesday signing Bakinson from Bristol C.

As the article states SW have plenty of midfielders I reckon the deal for FDB might still be a goer.
Saw that earlier and thought the same, Darren Moore said that their interest in Bakinson had no bearing on their stance with FDB, but that's complete BS, they just don't want everyone to see their hand.

Wednesday play with 3 CMs and on the books already they have Adeniran, Bannan, Vaulks, Byers, and FDB (not a bad core at all for League 1). Add in Bakinson and that makes it even more difficult to give FDB minutes in a team that really doesn't have time to wait for the development of a player (we very much do have that time).

That report also mentions how FDB and Wednesday are still a ways apart on contract negotiations so it would make sense for them.

Think we are well in with a shot here.

Are you working for our board??

Seems like Pompey had been in negotiations with him and Accy for a few days, today the going price (500k) gets leaked, we realize just how cheap it is, we put a bid in, make contact with him and his agent and he immediately cancels his medical at Pompey and prepares to join us.

Absolute shithousery from us.
But given we had signings close that didn't work out seemingly, probably happened and happens to us often too.

It happens in football, some go against us and some for us.
