The oldies hate the young supporters

The oldie lot hate the youth crew because they’re all rowdy, beery, hyped up on coke and giving it the loud big ‘un with all their chants and their booze and that powder they shove up their bugles…and the rowdy chants driven by snorting snow and imbibing ethanol big style. Some of em even stand up during the game despite having a clearly disabled fan who can’t see the match behind them and turn around and day “hey Oldie, have a line and a voddie and chill you auld Gimmer

They preferred it when only 120 went away and they were Kings!

My only problem with the younger fans, and this isn’t limited to Blackpool it appears to be the same everywhere, is while they’re being “passionate” invading the pitch etc, they’re doing it while filming themselves on their phones. They give the impression that the football is secondary and they live for their social media profiles.

For 90 minutes from kick off I forget I own a phone, I live every kick. If that makes me old and out of touch, so be it!

Personally I can’t be doing with social media profiles.

Avoid them like the plague.

With a few exceptions obvs.

My main problem with the young is the fact that they are…..well…. young.

In all seriousness, my kids are too young for social media yet but I’m more worried about the effect of that on them than pretty much anything else. My mate is a secondary school teacher and the stories he tells me are pretty scarey!

I have a Twitter account but never tweet, just follow a dwindling number of football sources and a Facebook account where I post once in a blue moon. That’s more than enough for me.

Your right though, they are irritatingly young…🤣

Well I go back to Pickering, Armfield, Green etc

We always had lively young fans then. Footie is to be enjoyed so fair play to them
And at least we‘re in the Championship so plenty to admire

All I say is stay off the pitch, no flares [ridiculous], support the team and respect where you are and where you go — life is fun — we are good generally as a set of fans as well as making an occasion

U t P

Kids annoy because they are more disrespectful than ever. The hand gestures etc. I don't like any fans when they know they are on tv. They fake passion by praying hands, hands on head etc.

Well if you have kids who are too young for social media that must mean you are also quite young.

So I’m sorry I don’t think you’re allowed to comment on this thread as you don’t have the life experience. #cancelcultureasexperiencedbythenotsoold.

You're on a wind-up, Blood. 😉 I don't think you'll catch too many oldie fish with it.

As a member of the older generation - well into my 70s - I have great respect and admiration for our young fans. What they're doing is a massive asset for the team.

I was once rowdy and beery - we didn't have coke then, except at the dentist, and I don't know that the young'uns take it now. I've never seen it. I would happily stand up for 90 minutes if I could, but the ravages of time won't allow it. Everyone grows old eventually.

My message to the youth crew is - keep up the good work.👍🍊

If everyone shows a bit of empathy towards our fellow Seasiders it’s fine. I actually think the majority do and this messageboard doesn’t represent our support as a whole.

Everybody supports BFC and wants to see a successful team. When we have a successful team we will get more young fans who will be a bit more rowdy, it’s a sign of progress!

Older fans need to understand the demographic is changing and that’s a good thing. Younger fans need to be respectful and helpful towards older fans. Infighting gets us nowhere.

Saying that I’ve not seen any aggro between anyone over the last couple of years so take it all with a pinch of salt.

Eh, the young are none of my business. Let them eat their exotic wasabi kit-kats and watch Anime until their eyes go black and bulbous like Koi-carps, who cares.

Lots of truth in this, they much preferred how it was, there’s a fair old few who loved the boycott years & they also can’t wait to slag off ‘North Stand’ behaviour… but spectacularly miss the atmosphere it creates and the West responsible for racist accusations and Sadler being slated verbally. I honestly believe that some people in this world hate seeing other people having a laugh or enjoying themselves because they don’t know how to do it or don’t do it themselves. Miserable existence.

Even at away games, spend most of the game moaning about the team and don’t sing a single song…

That away season in the Prem with Band A’s was a tough gig.

I hope our youth element continues to grow and grow 💪🏽

Definitely. Although there’s nobody under the age of 30 on this site so I don’t think it will reach a high score 🏏

My guess would be 60-odd then our seniors will find something else to moan about or Phil will post something controversial.

Been a good night Blood? Young people will do what they do then they'll become older people. Such is life.

As you went to the away games, I presume you were Band A yourself?

I'm seeing through this run ruse straightaway Blood . I think it's basically people who still have hair that you re really hating as your baldy bonce burns to a Tangerine crisp in this ridiculous , unrelenting summer sunshine 😉

50 years ago my Dad told me that a club was only as good as the young lads coming in to watch the team. Something he always believed we did well as a club - but I think it depended a lot on the back of the England legends we had playing for us at the time.

Similarly nothing makes me happier than walking round the gold coast and seeing young kids in tangerine shirts.

As for kids larging it, nothing is better than being a young lad going away, giving the opposition dogs abuse and coming away with a result. The youngsters at Turf Moor on Saturday will remember that feeling for many a long day.

However I hate listening to fans shouting for the team who clearly aren't from Blackpool.

no respect - the youths should be there to help remove the lid from our flasks, fold the blankets at the end of the game, get pies and Beers for us at half time and walk us to our transport at full time. Not like we are asking for a foot-rub..yet...
oh and of course - children should be seen and not heard - anybody under 35 is a child.
should I get into removing my bag of urine ??

What a ridiculous post . Firstly insulting the young fans making out that they are all stupid , alcoholic drug takers and then making out that the older fans who in general did similar things if not worse in their day . Chanting ,setting off smoke bombs and standing up in a match is not going to upset the fans of the late sixties and seventies . Those fans had to strategically either get to the ground in safety or make plans to ambush the opposition fans . These were the days where there could have more away supporters in your ground then home and there was no segregation. So if people think that chanting ,standing up and swearing is going to upset the majority of older fans is bollocks . This is just a post from a board person that seems to like dividing pool fans.

I’ve been going to Bloomfield rd 30 years and have never had a problem with the young uns. I always find them respectful towards me. No issues from me with the young fans at all apart from throwing or lighting the smoke bombs as they choke me and I have a bad chest ( although I love them in colour) adds to the atmosphere tbh. Young fans are the future and we don’t wanna lose them

I was one of the original Kopites which formed around 1966 .
The older one’s hated it especially the banners displayed etc.
We laughed at them as we would think that we would never be like them.
Funnily enough many did just like the Sunday drivers we curse when stuck behind.
They May well have been boy racers at one time.

Now I am old I still love to join in the singing and soak up the atmosphere.
Folk have short memories of the way they behaved when they were younger.

The biggest problem with getting old, is that when young you can control your body and its functions.

However, as you age, your body and its functions control you.

The young ones will, like all of us, age and will then understand why Blood has said what he has.

Personally, i think the young fans, on the whole are fine, it's just the odd one or two who let the side down, but, the same can be said for any age group, including us old gibbers!

I actually don't think I hate too many people in the world at all. There are quite a few I am not that keen on, but would rarely feel the need to use the word hate. Putin and Assad might deserve that word, not older, or younger, BFC fans.

How you get 120 went away ,you haven't a clue . When Blackpool got relegated from the old second division there was any amount of supporters could travel and we were basically a big fish in the bottom 2 divisions . I used to go all over the country and any game within 100 miles there was never less then 3,000 . Some grounds had more pool supporters then home fans. So if you want to get Blackpool fans arguing with other pool fans at least make your facts right . Also if you class yourself as a young one ,then are you one of these drug taking alcoholics because this post seems to make out you are.

It was mentioned on another thread that there is a problem with people standing and blocking the view of others at away matches, and the behaviour of the young i am sure ruins the match for quite a few supporters.

The answer is we need to get back to having separate standing and seated areas. The tanked up mob can head to the terrace and those that prefer a more comfortable experience can head to the seats. I would be in the seats.

Of course the coked up tanked up youth giving it the biggen looks foolish and always has, and always will. But thats the inexperience of youth for you.
Occasionally you get an old timer behaving in the same way, that is so cringworthy.

Been there, done it, got the T-Shirt. The only problem I have is saving the lives of the young ones falling on top of me from behind when we score and I'm a bit more brittle than I used to be.

Everyone's a part of the tangerine family in my book. I love the atmosphere, love the fun and long may it continue! I used to stand in the south paddock in 80's jumping around and I'm sure I got on the nerves of many a pool fan around me.. it would be somewhat hypocritical if I now start complaining about others doing the same. Be loud, be proud, be tangerine!
