Regardless of anything else that has to be the glaring error of our set up. We’ve got a lot of attacking and wide options but if you can run through us at will and if we cannot pressure you to win it back then our chances of surviving are slim.

Arsenal of the Fabregas, Nasri, Wilshire era were the closest but your right they lost when it counted cos they were too weak and didn't win anything.

People expected us to put out the best team possible and look like we are capable of stringing 3 passes together and pose some attacking threat!
 
I don't get not using Trybull for at least 35 minutes & I'd have had Yates with big Gaz plus Lyons was ok against NF. I could join in the get rid brigade & feel justified. I think he will get 4-5 more games to try & turn things around.
 
If we're gonna be turgid and terrible to watch going forward, we have to at least be hard to beat, like we were under Critchley. We've gone a long way backwards and there's no sign of it changing under this manager.

I've been willing to give him a chance but the quality of the performances make it impossible. We're better than we're showing. Sad truth is he's probably got one more game.

we arent really keeping it tight though, defence is playing well, but they are tearing through the midfield, sooner or later we are going to pay for this.

Rogers looks decent and putting himself about.
 
That was a shit performance, I had a ticket but didn't go because I have COVID for the 2nd time - I am sort of glad.
I am not in favour of not giving someone a fair chance but Appleton seems uninspiring and stubborn.
Some players have improved under him (Carey, Hamilton) but overall we are far worse than this time last year.
He needs a couple of wins and some good performances otherwise it's the end for him
 
Today was the day to be brave with team selection but he reverted to type with Madine and Connolly.

Madine barely completed a successful pass or win a header. We have the ability to be an attacking threat but with Madine we are handicapped and if we continue to pick him in the starting eleven we’ll go down. The aimless long pass don’t suit the players we’ve just signed!

We have the players, the manager is tactically inept. If we don’t beat Huddersfield next week he has to go!
 
It is clear that we have some good players. Yates, Madine (yes, Madine), Ekpiteta, Thorniley, Patino, Carey, Dougall, Wright Hamilton...in fact, a lot of our players are good. We have no midfield general. Though, if we do, he is not being played as such. These players are being made to look incompetent by a manager and his assistant who are not up to this league. It is such a shame. If Sadler has to offload bullshit Ben in order to justify offloading Appleton then so be it.
 
You can't pin it on Maxwell. He's ok, maybe Grimmy better, both have their moments.
Issue lays squarely with Management and Coaching - and the total ** lack of it.
Team selection, set up, confidence, substitute decisions ... everything.
It's a shit show.
 
We looked pretty poor today, not a lot of creativity, overrun with ease in midfield at times.

Some odd selections, Madine again playing the whole 90 and he literally did nothing bar 1 good tackle, gave the ball away multiple times when a simple pass would have been so easy.

I will say though games like today won't be what costs us, it'll be the teams around us so still in with a chance, but have to improve massively.

Mixed bag for Maxwell, 1 decent stop, but one flap into danger and they hit the bar and comes steaming out and gives away a pen.

Bowler looked rusty, Rogers half decent at times but nothing on the end of it, a lot of the others were kind of there and did something, but not sure anything particularly memorable.

Not sure what someone like Dougall must be thinking looking on, knowing he can make a difference defensively in a side overrun often and he can't get a look in.

Personally i think Appleton has a plethora of riches, ball players, pace, passers, decent strikers, decent first selection for defence.

what we play is hoofball, bypass the midfield,

he inherited a decent championship squad, with the recent additions i think we should be showing beeter than this.

Why sign a right back who has a great game last weekend to be dropped today for a midfielder at right back. Madness
Plays Madine instead of Jerry again Madness
A 22 and 19 year old in midfield yet Dougall on the bench
Should have played Yates from the start and also lyons
No subs till we go 1-0 down WTF is that all about. Watford bring on 4 subs to change things and we fetch no subs on till 72 minutes. Crazy
Brings lavery on for 4/5 minutes feckin pointless

Unfortunately if he does we could be cut well adrift by then and staring league 1 in the face.
 
Same problem we have had all season the midfield doesn't work. Heres hoping Trybull gets fit quickly, if not Kenny for Carey
 
2 huge issues I have. Firstly Madine.... Fcuks sake man and secondly the midfield pairing. Patino is a great technical player and passer of the ball, Carey pretty good too but they can not hold a central midfield together so why persist with it when you have other options. I'm not Dougalls greatest fan but move Connolly in there for christ sake. We've got a right back now who played really well last week for gods sake

Yes...yes. We can all see it. I don't know that he believes anymore. If he isn't sacked I hope he walks. Then again...a f**cking stupid 4 year contract?!

looks like a team that still hasnt played together much. and we are half way through the season.

If we are going to by pass the midfield and play long ball then why pick two ball players in the centre? Might as well have started Connolly and Dougall in there to rat about and win the ball back?
