What’s everyone reading at the moment

Kirky. If you like it there are 24 other Jack Reacher books to read. They are all pretty similar tbh but easy reading.

Another who's not a big reader of books. I'm a big fan of John Grisham though and have just finished a couple his books, The Appeal which was t ok and Camino Island which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Conn Iggulden: The fourth book in a War of the Roses Trilogy! 🤔 😁

Bloodline
Stormbird
Trinity
Ravenspur👍🏻

A great plot and a fascinating historical tale, surely the next period drama mini series.

Just finished 'the mixer' about football tactics which was quite good. Now trying to read a book about underground places in human history which is very good but at the same time a bit hard going and I'm not really in the mood to make an effort.

Would recommend David Goldblatts' 'The Age Of Football' as a quarantine football read! It's a real magnum opus on the impact and status football has all across the world and its geopolitical implications. Otherwise fiction-wise I'm reading Milan Kundera's 'The Joke' and non-fiction Naomi Klein's 'On Fire'.

I'll give that a go.

Try Mick Herron and the "Slow Horses" books. Probably my favourite at the moment along with Jo Nesbo, Harry Hole books. I'd say you need to read both in order of publication.

The Oxford English dictionary-concise,pocket size but its the Yarkshire edition.

Just got to 'E' so it could be a long afternoon...😀

I've just ordered Lee Childs Blue Moon, currently £3.50 on Amazon. I've enjoyed all his books so far. 👍

John Sandford, writes the 'Prey' books. Very good.
Currently reading 'Prussian Blue' by Phillip Kerr. Long book, 600 pages. Just started but this one looks promising

I am on the third of three books I picked out on Kindle.

The first was '1918, The Greatest Day in History' by Nicholas Best

My next book was '1939, The World We Left Behind' by Robert Key.

I'm now halfway through '1945, The World We Fought For' by Robert Key.

Three very interesting books that lead on from one another.

read first slow horses book. Will give follow up a go too.
about 2/3rds through jo nesbo catalogue - all very good reads.
all time favourite is CS Sansom - Dominion , and Winter in Madrid.

Jeeves and the king of clubs by Ben Schott. Beautifully written and very funny new take on the old master PG Wodehouse.
Also The Body a user’s guide by Bill Bryson, probably my favourite ever writer.

Reading "The Secret War" by Max Hastings. Also set to read "Marching with the Devil" about the French Foreign Legion by David Mason and "The Age of Football" by David Goldblatt. I was hoping to have a book with me during my trip to the UK as I usually read instead of watching the little screen on the aeroplane. That trip has of course been postponed and I was so looking forward to once again catching up with DP and Sandra.

Nice fella Mr Goldblatt, I met him in the Bloomfield. He reckoned Blackpool would need a whole new chapter!
He wrote it and published it the New York Times!

Max Hastings is my favourite author. I,ve enjoyed everything I've read by him, from ww1 through Ww2 to Korea And Vietnam.

Just finishing The Outsider, Stephen King, better than the TV series I think, although that was very good.

Not sure what is next up, lots of choice, may do a Robert MacCammon "Matthew Corbett book, got a couple in the series stir to enjoy.
His book Swan Song is worth a read, particularly with what's happening in the world at the moment.

recently read :-
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Girl from Venice - Martin Cruz Smith
The Long Goodbye - Raymond Chandler

...every one a winner.

currently reading :-
American Kingpin - Nick Bilton
...about the Silk Road Dark Web site - crazy true story. On the same subject there's a Storyville documentary well worth a watch and apparently a film due this year but delayed cause of...yep, that again.

As someone who used to be a big reader I suffered some mental health issues that affected my ability to concentrate and would suddenly realise that I was not registering what I was reading. However I have quite a collection of reference books which I have no problem with so dipping into them at the moment. Being retired for many years my daily routine included a visit to the corner shop where I would pick up my daily paper. Being in isolation this is no longer possible so for the first in my lifetime a certain newspaper is no longer part of my life. I miss it.

I’am reading the grovelling story from Kyle Walker in the Daily Mail on him breaking the lockdown rules by paying £4,400 and inviting 2 call girls to his house in Cheshire because he was bored.

What a clown obviously more money than sense.
