Your biggest sporting achievement?

Unsurprisingly mine are in bowling.

In team play I've won the Fylde Amateur League title with Hambleton three times. It's commonly regarded as the best standard league in the area.

Individually I've won the Civil Service nationals 5 times in pairs and once in singles. That's not quite as impressive as it sounds as only half the CS regions play crown, the rest are flat and most struggle to adapt.

I lost the 2006 Carleton Floodlit final, which is probably the highest standard comp I'd made significant progress in to date. But this weekend I hope to pass that as I've qualified for the first time for the last 64 of the Autumn Waterloo Handicap. I play John Bailey who won it 2005 and lost the 2016 final, so a tough ask but looking forward to it!

I once opened the batting and scored 87 runs at Eton College against a team of Old Etonians

That said.. you couldn't fail as the pitch was superb!!

At the end a very attractive blonde lady walked onto the pitch with Pimms and Eton mess 😍
Hang on, really? And you a fan of The Fall? Please provide background!

I am a Fall fan.

I played for the Royal National Theatre CC for twenty years. We played at Eton around 2006 - 2008?

I picked up a couple of wickets too.

Do you think I'm making it up? I played at some of the best cricket ground in the south east.
Played against Milan CC in the Italian lakes, Racing Club Paris and Nice.

Nothing really that ranks as an achievement however I was pleased to play a match against a visiting Irish youth team at Squires gate training ground with Morty in attendance. He watched the first half then buggered off. Played against Mark Lawrenson and Dave Tong for my youth club team. Once had a school team game reffed by ex Pool player John Craven.

Won an indoor hockey tournament, by basically using footy blitz attacking. Gave the opposition's no time, got a record number of fouls called against us.

First and last time I have ever played any form of hockey, those regular hockey players were disgusted. Real Crazy Gang stuff

Do expand??
I played for the Football league staff team at Wembley against the Wembley staff team , and I scored against the FA staff team at Bloomfield Rd at the Kop end with a left foot looping volley . I also broke my ankle playing at the old Den , again for the League staff team against Nationwide staff team who at the time were sponsoring the England team . Hope this helps .

I remember playing at Horwich RMI for Blackpool Mechs and we led 1-0 at half time through my penalty. Lost the game 2-1.
I think Blackpool played there in the FA Cup later that season.

Played against the Macedonia national team in 1999 for an Army team when their match against the Republic of Ireland was cancelled due to the start of the war in Kosovo. We lost 9-1 I think!

Grundy Hill. It had a huge slope. Really enjoyed going there. Especially when they had Monday night matches.

Played badminton for Lancashire when I was 19.
Otherwise, I won a school penalty competition, and scored 5 out of 5 against Billy o Rourke. He wasnt happy and almost squeezed the life out of my hand when I was awarded the trophy ....

Earned my County Colours for Lancashire Army Cadet Force in the late 80’s. Played as a keeper for the county in a huge country wide tournament held at fullwood barracks over 3 days.

played cricket on a Blackpool & Preston Schools (state) tour to Argntina - was 15 ... a 14 year old Andrew Flintoff was a team mate!

played with Michael Dighton and against Paul Horton & Marlon Black

on all occasions well out of my depth!

GBWBA (Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association) National League Division 2 (equivalent of league one) Champions with a record of 13 wins and 1 loss for Sheffield Steelers back in 2015.

Here I am looking smug and around 5 stone lighter then I currently weigh with the trophy

Go on, expand....
I made a reasonable connection and for once my shot went dead straight, however somehow despite never actually hitting the ground the ball flew along only a few inches in the air and hit the ladies tee marker. It bounced back hurtling towards us, sending my fellow golfers diving for cover. I eventually found my ball somewhere beyond the practice green a good distance behind us. My exploits at the Belfry were even worse but I’ll save that one for another day.

Back to my main love of football and I have enjoyed many a positive result playing for Tim Fielding’s over 50’s Senior Seasiders Walking Football team and we’re about to embark on our second season in the North West over 50’s league which I’m really looking forward to.
