Your biggest sporting achievement?

I once opened the batting and scored 87 runs at Eton College against a team of Old Etonians

That said.. you couldn't fail as the pitch was superb!!

At the end a very attractive blonde lady walked onto the pitch with Pimms and Eton mess 😍
Running 13 London
3 New York

Goal keeper of the year in the Sunday Alliance 1996 playing for The Rammy. Top set of lads.

I never played in that game, I might have retired my boots by then. I did play against the Nationwide team a few times though, we played at the old Den , we also played them at Bloomfield rd.
It was funny Fatboy - I thought I was a decent footballer and then came up against pros who you watch on tv and think “he’s shit” - they hardly gave me a kick! 😀

Was invited to Lords for an awards luncheon for those that had done most for cricket in their area/community. Other than that Faced Andy Roberts , Michael Holding & joel Garner i the nets at Fleetwood CC (I can still smell the leather as it fizzed past my nose & the shit in my pants as i thought I was about to die)
Do you remember my ex boss then? John Isles. Keeper at Fleetwood and St Annes

Played in the Lancashire Schools Cup Final at Deepdale, lost 4-2.

On the day of the Steel City derby, played CB for Wednesday fans vs Blades fans. Went to clear a ball in our crowded penalty area and our 18st keeper landed on me and snapped my leg under my knee. They carried me to the sideline and I watched most of the 2nd half, we won 5-4.

Missed 12 weeks of work and still have a large pin through my leg.

My name is Gary Vickers ex Baines Grammar School and yes I remember John Schofield ex Arnold who organised the team
Hi Gary played my last game for Sqiures Gate before I moved to Leicester for my new job along side you up front. The game was at Mechanics
that Sat afternoon on a hot day in August.

I’ve won the Airfix slot racing world championship a couple of times and Timbertops has won it a few times too. Originally in St Anne’s but moved to Guildford some years ago.

I won Goalkeeper of the year in my Division and County League in my first ever time donning the gloves also three provincial medals

GBWBA (Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association) National League Division 2 (equivalent of league one) Champions with a record of 13 wins and 1 loss for Sheffield Steelers back in 2015.

Here I am looking smug and around 5 stone lighter then I currently weigh with the trophy

Is it just me or does a younger Joe bear an uncanny resemblance to the young fish head who does their vlogs...Screenshot_20230607_022424_Samsung Internet.jpg

Played for Blackpool Mechanics and was part of a mean defence that kept clean sheets away at the likes of Barrow and Accrington Stanley. We just didn’t score many at the other end either.

Scored at Bloomfield Rd, Played for Pool Reserves. Won Lancashire Sunday Cup Final Football with Warwick Southpool. Won the Cockspur National Cricket final at Lords and Lancashire Cup (x3) with Blackpool CC. Won the Palace Shield, Meyler Cup and also the A Division batting (average) and wicket keeping award (x3). Played along side Bloodtangerine in the Walking Football team.
Banda, not wanting to piss on your chips pal but Warwick didn't win the LFA Sunday Trophy, before my Mammas side won it in 93 and 94 only Marklynn Motors in 1979 had won it from around here.

Did Warwick Southpool (later Boston Hotel) not play in two Lancs finals? I remember losing at Leyland Motors ground in one (2-1 I think) and thought we won the year after. I'm flaming losing it. You are the Sunday League expert after all!

Banda, I think you're right there, I believe they lost in two pal. I have the full list of winners from the first final in 1972.

I was lucky enough to manage my teams in seven finals, winning four of them.

I have no idea who we played in those finals or the exact scores. If you can find out I’d love to know. I was only a young 16-17 yr old.

Nothing really that ranks as an achievement however I was pleased to play a match against a visiting Irish youth team at Squires gate training ground with Morty in attendance. He watched the first half then buggered off. Played against Mark Lawrenson and Dave Tong for my youth club team. Once had a school team game reffed by ex Pool player John Craven.
John Craven , very good player!
