Any tips for decent non alcohol beer?

Mrs One bought me a case of Heineken Zero and it's just not the same 😞

I do a dry full calendar 😏💪

My girls are both doing dry Jan 👍

I dont mind a Heineken zero in the Summer months to be honest but that‘s the only alcohol replacement I have.

I have a costa addiction now though. Got myself a cute little Tassimo machine that gets some serious hammer these days 😆

Good luck anyway 👍

Sorry to be no help whatsoever 🥴

The professional reviews I've read are saying Guinness are the first to have totally nailed the 0% alcohol riddle.

Apparently (prior to Christmas) it is just really hard to get hold of such is its popularity.

Guinness as Alcohol free, or their beers or all of them?

....or is this the water joke?

Dry January serves many a purpose. It gives the liver a great rest after the Christmas and New Year hammering that many put it through. That doesn’t mean you drink too much as a general rule.
Most young ‘uns tend to have a binge period in December so January is perfect to restore and replenish the liver and body.

It also saves money for a month which again is sometimes much needed in January for those catching up with Christmas bills.

It‘s also a personal challenge for some, and it’s never a bad thing to set yourself a healthy goal.

So yeah, good luck with it, I see the point 👍

I’m doing it SS1.

I can’t do the alcohol free stuff though. That’d be like finding Jennifer Lawrence naked in your bed demanding satisfaction only for you to find someone’s strapped a chastity belt around your one eyed righter to wrongs…..

Breaking any drug addiction can be tough and with alcohol the crutch of an alcohol free or low alcohol option can help with the mental addiction.

Personally though, I’d consult with your GP first as immediate cessation can cause some serious side effects… You may need to stop gradually.👍

I don't drink that much mate 👍

In that case just sack off the alcohol free shit. Most of it tastes like crap in any case…

Just drink water👍 Maybe mix it up with a bit of sparkling water.
I would agree most of it tastes crap - hence the question.

I must admit I do enjoy corporation pop!

Must admit I bought a case of 10 Guinness with 2 alcohol free included.
I was amazed how good it was.

One question.
Do you start dry January on the stroke of midnight or can you start later in the day!

Lala

You are forgetting the calories you save by not drinking alcohol.
One of the reasons I am doing a dry January until the Barnsley game!

Good point Graham re calories 👍 and add to that the increased energy levels and ability to focus and motivate in general.

Not gone mad over Christmas & I generally do dry Monday to Friday unless we’re away. So a no from me. Good luck with those who are.

Nope, I can’t manage it and to be honest unless it’s for a good cause I don’t see the point. In the current climate who wants to stop doing things they enjoy.

No, pubs like The No 10, JDs, Cask and other micro pubs need all the help they can get !
You must introduce yourself. I’m always in the No.10 pre-Sat games and JD’s for mid-week. Come to think of it, was it you reading out the team on Wednesday?

Im trying permanently, finding it very difficult at night getting to sleep & heart palpitations at night

Im fine during the day/evening

I haven’t been out for a bit , I’m busy trying to get healthy,

As alcohol free 0.0%

Just had a quick look at it seems stock may now be around, so Im going to have to try and see if it matches the hype.
they are excellent. I've tried a lot over last two years and Guinness is the best in my opinion, though as you say often out of stock.

Only happens the nights i dont drink. I usually drink just 3 a night all year round for years
You could have a bit of residual anxiety. That can often show up with night palpitations and poor sleep.

I think I read you’d lost some loved ones recently. Maybe you need some time to grieve without alcohol.

Alcohol can mask the feelings we need to get out. But it does only mask them and they often seep out in other ways.

Maybe look online for some mental health programs that deal with eating, drinking, exercise, sleep habits etc.
Stick with trying though for sure 👍

3 every night maybe 6 on Saturdays
I was very heavy drinker up until about 2014
Feel free not to answer...

Three what.....three pints, three bottles of wine etc?

....and what did you drink before 2014?

Just trying to put it into context 👍

Ps that seems good advice from Lala.

3 pints a night (which might seen nothing) but was dependent on it for sleep

Before 2014 i was drinking 7/8 at least every single night of the year for 5 or 6 years

All the men on both sides of my family suffered from alcoholism, heavier then me mind

I think its a case of withdrawal symptoms my body been so used to having drink every night at the same time too.

The deaths certainly didn’t help matters either, i will definitely have a look online at that and thank you i do appreciate it

Have you ever approached your GP about support in quitting ?
It‘s heavily entrenched in your family as you say. Maybe be the one to break the cycle.

I have no problem with alcohol per se and being around it. And I quit overnight as I wasn't ever physically dependent. And I’m no preacher.

But I know that there are ‘times‘ when alcohol is never a good idea, and ‘people‘ who it will never ever agree with.

They all broke the cycle and are sober years bar my dad but he only has a few maybe once a week.

Fair play how long now?

This might sound the stupidest thing you ever read but sometimes things I believe happen for a reason, when i decided to cut years ago was because i couldnt afford even one BFC shirt i was relying on some for Christmas off my parents so i needed to cut which i did then i got a council house after about 8 months from cutting down

Now pubs here forced to close at 8pm sharpe & the massive price increase in take away drink is an offput. I can afford the take away even if it trebled price but I think €2 for one can of Galahad aldis worst is just simply wasting money

Its like if its a sign to just pack it in and head back to the gym from the money i save, i always was very fit now ive a slight beer belly, not good.

About 6 years for me. it was seriously messing with my mental health as I used it to deal with things I should have been dealing with in a stronger more responsible way.
I don’t miss it one bit. I usually have one Irish Coffee at Christmas but didn’t get around to that in the end this year as I was too busy and it obviously wasn’t a priority.

Like many can’t see the point in quitting I can’t see the point in drinking now, can’t see it at all.

Yes, things can happen for a reason and if you’re seeing a reason then go for it 👍 It works wonders for both the mental and physical self.

Good luck indeed 👍
