England v Denmark Official Matchnight Thread 07.07.21

A frustrating 60 minutes or so against a stubborn Denmark side. A goal on the hour mark and a 2nd to follow late in the day as they push for an equaliser.

2-0 England. Kane to find the net again.

Denmark have been inspired by the Christian Eriksen incident, but there were signs in their last game that this is wearing off. Nevertheless, they are a tough side to beat, playing English style football and they will be dangerous at set pieces. Having said that, England are growing into the competition and look solid at the back. If we keep that clean sheet record I'm confident we will score at the other end. I'm going for 2-0 to England.

2 0 for me too. I think our defence will be concentrating better against a better side than Ukraine. The pairing of Man City on the right and Man U on the left of defence has given that club understanding while Kane finally seems to have found his shooting boots.

My head is telling me England should win, but deep down I am expecting a nervy evening and probably an outcome that is close to fifty fifty given all the circumstances.

I've just discovered a bad omen.
The crowd noise at the start of Three Lions is actually Brøndby fans recorded by Ian Broudie at Anfield during a UEFA Cup tie in October 1995.
😬

yep, nervous as hell and still nearly 10 hours to go. Said all along how big it is for England to do well..

Hasn't quite sunk in yet how big this game is, absolutely massive. Beat Denmark and we are in the first major final since 66, the first in mine and I imagine many others' lifetime.

Tonight is the the 2nd last to last hurdle in ending 55 years of hurt. Let's do the business tonight you mighty Three Lions - COME ON ENGLAND.

One thing you can say about Gareth Southgate's England, is that it has been able to overcome some things that were previously seen as major barriers for England - winning a penalty shootout and beating Germany (or any major nation) in a knockout game. The next 'barrier' to overcome is getting past the semi-final stage. Not saying it'll be easy or even that we'll do it but i'm confident that we'll be mentally prepared better than we've ever been before.

Nice to see the No7 Bus going up Fleetwood Road (Bispham version) with the electronic display proudly showing

7 St Annes Square 👍

oh ok, it also said

“ITS COMING HOME”

Well done Blackpool Transport - prepare for a complaint!

Is it too early to have a beer.....?
I really can’t be doing with all the TV build up, and even less so on ITV, so need to go for a walk and/or beer!

Im surprised Saka is starting ahead of Sancho but I've been surprised by all manner of things so far. What do I know lol

I once entered the world erection championship.
Only made it through to the semi's.
Let's hope England can go one better tonight 😜

As much as it would be nice for Eriksen to see his side play in the final after what he's been through, come on England!
