Gambling firm 'Leo Vegas' sponsoring the new shirt...

💯 Eloquently put.
Gambling can destroy families so does alcohol but I know a lot more who've paid the ultimate price from booze in a box.
Yeah, it's maybe not ideal, I liked the Blackpool one it looked good and was good to promote the town, but where will we draw the line?

Sponsored by a car company? Polluting the planet. The energy company is similar.

A water company maybe... United utilities anyone.. oh wait here's their new logo 💩

Food company? It's unhealthy and promoting obesity.

We'll end up with some sort of vegan meditation group...

Don't know why there's such outrage, if they provide that extra money that allows us to get the players in we want and win promotion because of it, no-one will care. Stoke's stadium name is after a betting company and I'm pretty sure they have people with gambling problems there. The league itself is sponsored by Skybet too. It's just a fact of life.
I'd prefer something else, but the anger and disappointment is completely OTT.
Obviously your family hasn’t been affected by gambling addiction. Lucky you !

Mine have.

If people want to gamble they will. They will also use search engines and many other ways to find gambling sites. Not saying having a gambling company as a sponsor is right but people will find them if they want.

This sponsor is no worse than Wonga yet we sold those shirts by the thousands.

It's a crappy cheap look whatever the shirt design and for the modest extra amount it will bring I doubt it would pay for much beyond the funds that would come via a more mainstream sponsor. I expect this would split the fanbase roughly into thirds - approve - don't care - vehemently against. Why people have to be abusive with the wet wipe/snowflake accusations is beyond me though. Opportunity missed.

Yes people will gamble if they so desire I have no problem with that. However I do have a problem with the promotion of gambling . The government should take the lead , but I am very disappointed with this . As for previous shirt sponsors under Oyscum, well I thought we had maybe learned from that . Obviously not .

Many of the people who used Wonga did so because of their gambling addiction. Neither was right. I can’t help wondering what the reaction would be if it was Preston advertising that on their shirt.

Support the Pool?. Buy a shirt. Like the shirt? Buy a shirt. Like gambling? Buy a shirt. Dislike the shirt? Don't buy the shirt. Dislike the sponsor/message?? ? Don't buy a shirt. 'Gamble' 40 plus quid on our success? Hmmmm..

Am I missing something?

If we had coca cola as sponsor would you go out and do a month's wages on fizzy drinks? If we had walkers would everyone go and get a bag of crisps?

If someone wants a bet, they're gonna have a bet regardless. You could take the moral high ground on pretty much any sponsorship/marketing out there.

If the money LeoVegas are pumping in to the club is helping subsidise championship wages (and judging by the last 2 signings I'd say that's the case) then would these people still be complaining if we finish top 2?

For me, it's not that it's a gambling sponsor.

It's that the gambling sponsors logo looks horrendous.

Other than that I think it's a nice shirt. However I won't be purchasing as I've started wearing big boys clothes now.

Like the shirt, plain and classic looking, the sponsors logo is crap and spoils it. Don't normally buy football shirts but if i could get one without the logo I'd purchase that but I know I cant so that's that.
Totally agree but what if you tell them that you are of a certain religion that forbids gambling 🤔
might be on to a winner there!
see what I did there 🤣
i’ll get my coat

I'll be buying a shirt 👍

Maybe the Official site is going to start advertising Leo Vegas and providing links to their website? After all, this company isn't a charity.

I'm done complaining about it to be honest.

It obviously sucks and is poor form, especially considering that the majority of football is moving away from gambling.

BUT, the fact that we kept Utilita on for the juniors while having Leo Vegas for the adults shows that LeoVegas must have come and offered us a decent amount to be principal shirt sponsors.

No one will be complaining when we use that money to buy some new players.

We play in the SKY BET League 1. Yes that's not our choice (and the shirt sponsor is), but it's part of the game right now and if having LeoVegas allows us to bring in extra quality I won't complain.
Who said football is moving away from gambling 😂 it’s probably as prominent as ever with just a touch of a button on your smart phone.

Prostitution, gambling, tobacco, alcohol. Do people realize how long these things have been around for. People have choices and many people enjoy these things. Social media and current trends are as bad. You can't ban everything. You could find a fault with most sponsors. Visit Blackpool... tasteless advertising people to come to a place full of arcades and bars etc. Religion has killed more people than gambling by far. Everything can be a problem.

He's got a point here.

Although I'd ban religion too.

Far too many wet wipes around today. It's always someone else's fault eh.

Just what I was thinking, the shirt has got nothing about it, not even a pattern in the weave. Still I don’t buy them anyway, not a good look on 82 year old.😁
Just to add fuel to the moral debate the new shirt appears to have triggered, I hope you don't take this the wrong way AR, but might the tone of your post (good natured as it is...) be construed as an instance of what might be labelled, by some (but certainly not me, of course ...), rather pompously, as 'self-deprecating ageism'?

From a slightly age-sensitive 60yr-old...

I can’t imagine seeing a prostitute logo on a football shirt though somehow 🤦‍♀️
What - not even if it was 'tastefully' designed, and, to avoid charges of sexism, if it was also to incorporate images of a male escort or two? Or maybe I'm digging rather a deep hole for myself here...

I no longer buy the replica shirts as they are generally aimed at younger people than me I believe & my belly isn't big enough yet for the older look. I've still got a couple of ancient ones & would wear one of them again if we were to make another playoff final as it's only like wearing a scarf or such in my opinion. Happy with the odd Tee shirt. As for sponsors I've never heard of Leo Vegas but if you don't like it then don't buy it or buy a very large junior one. 😂

A sweeping statement it definately is, upset some sensitive souls it may well do but tell the truth and shame the devil say I.:)
