Happy Valley

I didn't think I'd like this one little bit. At a loose end tonight so I've given it a go...
Bloody hell, it only turns out it's the best thing on TV!!
I've binged up to the start of S1E5, gripping stuff

Calder Valley was my old sales territory in my first job out of university, free trade sales for Webster's brewery. It always had a that strange air about it, particularly in winter when hillside pubs losing money would mysteriously catch fire. Places like Todmorden, Pecket Well, Mytholmroyd, Triangle, Lumbutts.
I came under Websters briefly as a free trade rep, around 1972

Personally I found last nights instalment utter rubbish.
Won't be watching it again.
Even MrsDP, who always watches it, said it was no good.

Each to their own but I thought there was enough going on to keep us entertained and a great last 5 minutes when she was talking to her sister whilst stood outside the cafe and then went inside and sat down at her table 🤣

Working Men''s Club committees Mates. Some were like family, some were like a day out at the witch trials 😬 🤣
My biggest in Happy Valley was Brighouse Wheelers - the steward was a complete arse. My biggest ever was Holmwood club in Bradford when I moved territory. Europe's largest council estate and about 30 on the committee. They were sound though, unlike West Bowling Working Men's where I had to leave a tenner under the ashtray on every visit because they all took free beer anyway - usually Tetleys 🙄

Homewood Club in Bradford, and you lived to tell the tale?
I had the White Hart Pub on Rooley Lane which was between Homewood and Bierley Estates, It took a good while to sort out the idiots from the decent people from both estates, and did once have all my windows put through.

I had Wakefield to Sheffield including the likes of normanton, Saturday igjt and Sunday morning committee meetings at miners clubs, magic.

Ooo what in particular weren’t you keen on Dave ?
Of course it could have been my mind wandering on other things.
It just didn't seem as good as previous series.
MrsDP who watched it all in the past was not impressed either.
If that's 'Happy Valley, give me PLF anyday. 😉

All opinions welcome Dave 👍

Thought it was good but there were plenty of sneaky woke things slipped in for those that noticed the been just can't help it .Not right in your face as usual but they were there

I would say you have to have watched the other 2 series. And to be fair they are a great watch so a bonus really 👍
Well this has slipped under my radar! Binged Series 1 and now Series 2/2 excellent stuff l have to say. I think the title my have put me off thought it was some soppy rubbish but got that wrong 😑

Was expecting fireworks last night but found it a slow one. The chemist story is turning a bit weird, when he was plotting killing the husband I thought it would be easier to kill the wife but not how he did it! This part of the plot isn't great.

Agreed, not a fan of this side story. The tripping over shoe laces was a bit shite as well.

Still good telly, but hopefully will get back to form.

Last night Catherine was talking to 2 blokes in a house , 1 older (sat down) 1 younger (stood up ) about what had happened etc . that scene lost me as i couldnt recall who they were. Can someone clear that up for me please

I think he originally didn’t plan to kill the wife because she said she told her husband who was giving her the pills. Therefore with the wife dead he would still be in bother.
Then last night she said the husband didn’t really know who was giving her the pulls and therefore sealed her own fate ☹️
