Ipswich Town v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 06.02.21

Tough game but we've been good which evens it out for me so 1-1..hope to win this as Ipswich is only 10 miles away from me... I will miss the Basil POC gathering !

All set for a Luke Garbutt winner. After the home drubbing I think our lot will be up for giving them a taste of their own medicine.

They are in poor form, lost their last 3 at home. We have won the last 2 games, whilst maybe not looking great all game on Tuesday, scoring 7 and conceding 0.

I’m actually confident for tomorrow.

Went to that match with an Ipswich fan and he said come on let’s go with 10 minutes to go so we could beat the traffic! I said no I’m staying until the end cos I’m a Blackpool fan and we stay until the bitter end!
Last match I went to, seems a long time ago

I doubt if NC will go for the same but I'm feeling gung ho!
Maxwell
Gabriel, Ekpiteta, Ballard, Garbutt
Ward/Virtue, Stewart, Dougall,
Simms, Madine, Yates
Hoping for an early goal which could open things up and lead to more.
UTP.

Revenge required. They annihilated us at home but the tables have turned since then. Confident that we will prove it tomorrow, obviously big Marv to knock the first one in in a 3 -1 victory.

Went in the 70’s and usual loss there😩 awful game and dreadful journey, they had the best pitch in football league and guess what we had second best one. Would be happy with a 1-1 today with some three points home games to come. UTMP

Judging by the ‘inside training’ YouTube video Ward is back, Lubala was there also. No sign of Madine, but there was no sign of Yates either so don’t think there’s anything to read into there. They have two 35 year old full backs so I’m quietly hoping CJ may be involved in some degree.

Just as well the game's not tomorrow, the weather looks grim. Would love to see us Nick this one, that would be a real show of intent 👍

Has there been an update on any of the players who are back in contention?
I can't be arsed pissing about with the Gazette's ad's, limited amount of free articles, registering and all the rest of their nonsense.

Anyone seen anything? We could do with Madine, Ward & Ballard back for today.

Would like to see Embleton given an opportunity to show what he can do here - he really does need to perform whilst on loan with us as there’s no comfy premier league academy to return to and if he can’t perform in an attacking Blackpool team at League 1 level and with a well regarded youth development coach then he doesn’t stand much chance of breaking in to the Sunderland squad either. The lad has a lot riding on this loan move IMO and if he’s allowed to play against a struggling Ipswich side with an aging defence for a team who really should be looking to dominate possession today it’s an opportunity to show what he’s all about.

Embleton has been in and around Sunderland's first team since the start of December, so he must be fit enough to play some part today, maybe even start.
I don't see what we have to lose by starting him wide left, I'd much prefer for someone to be picked to play there and be given an extended run in the team to see what they can do; if Embleton isn't capable of being in the first team then he shouldn't have been signed.
What I don't want is a rotation between him, Kaikai, Bez and whoever else where none of them are given enough time to bed in and grow in to the role. It does none of them any good and the ultimate goal of finding a capable left winger isn't achieved.

My Sunderland supporting work mate says he can do a job on the left. If he has been signed to play through the middle I have no idea where he will fit now that we have Dougall & Stewart.

Given the players we have out and we are away against higher league opposition, the bookies actually have us as favourites.

He can do a job on the right,
Left, in the center or behind the front two

Confident. Lucky socks on. If we all put are lucky stuff on we’re bound to end the hoodoo.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Virtue keep his spot in the team today, given that we're away in what could be a tough game.
He does a lot of work which means Gabriel is allowed to get forward more.

Watched the Seasiders Podcast this morning, the Ipswich lads on revealed all about their squad!

They have two young centre halves who in their opinion tend to get bullied by experienced strikers, if Gary Madine is playing he'll give them a torrid time. Let's hope he's back, COME ON YOU POOOOoooOOOOL!
