Leeds United v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 07.07.22

Coz you see these players train day in day out you can really have the opinion weather they will ever make the team what a dick why don’t you take the. Managers role you seem to know better really don’t like Holmes do you all you do is slate the kid prob while your sat on your fat arse

Our passing has been really bad, Lubala has looked OK in an enthusiastic Adrian Forbes sort of way.
A lot of work needs to be done on the training ground and recruitment side.

Nothing in midfield or up top, possession was crap.

Having said that 2nd half they had nothing, got very lucky with a deflected goal. Lavery should have buried his chance.

Well that was an abrupt ending for my £4.95's worth. Was hoping to stick around for Chisnall interviewing Ted Lasso about Leeds.

Not many positives from that. Created zilch, couldn't string any passes together. Lots to work on. Thought Tharme looked as if he could step up. Lavery tried to make things happen. Need to improve massively in the next few weeks.

Nobody should sugarcoat that because it was quite poor, only created like 2/3 changes, but let's also be real; 3 of there 4 goals never should have happened if we hadn't switched off on set pieces.

Tonight was bad, but it is fixable.

Carey, Apter both still looking bright.

Roca for Leeds was a proper prick.

Tough one to watch. Didn't expect to win, or for it to be an amazing performance but imagined it to be better than that. Lots of work to be done. Onto the next game and hopefully we'll have some new additions by then.

I think Appleton has got a big job on his hands here to stop us getting relegated this season. Ok we've got 2 or 3 passable players but again nothing up front. It's ok saying the forwards dont get the ball but when they do, they dont do anything with it . New forward line definitely needed .

I think the biggest difference was attitude.
we went in like it was on the training ground, and Leeds went in with some bite.
happy to give fouls away if we looked like making progress.
second half was much better in terms of competitiveness

It's only a friendly, and we played half our first teamers in each half so there's absolutely no need for panic. However, for me it did show that we have glaring weaknesses in midfield and at full back, as neither half was good enough in those areas. The only full back I think we've got that's good enough is Gabriel, the rest are poor imo. We need right back cover, and a quality left back. Apter is a decent youngster but he shouldn't be playing a defensive role imo, he has neither the strength nor the stature, and it doesn't play to his strengths. I guess needs must with Gabriel out but it does highlight what I said above about the full back situation.

In midfield, beyond Carey and Dougall, and possibly Connolly, there's very little - and certainly very few goals.

Personally think those should be the priority areas of the pitch for strengthening.

Plus points tonight - Tharme looked decent, Carey showed his quality again, and I thought Lavery looked a touch sharper than he was during the final few weeks of last season.
