New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

Culprits on Disney + Just watched first episode. Excellent and it's one of those that I think you will binge watch. It's a crime mafia type series based in UK and America. Very interesting and gripping plot .
Yep. Excellent stuff. Watching it now.

Suburraeterna on Netflix, 4th(?) series about criminal gangs in Rome, really enjoy the franchise but watch in Italian with sub titles as it's miles better that way!

As expected it's getting poor reviews. As you say the recent stuff isn't great - the first 2 were fantastic with Claire Foy and Matt Smith, the third was still good but the decline started with 4.
Loved the first two - found the cast less believable as it went on and gave up on the Aberfan disaster episode - lost my attention.

Mentioned above that S2 of the Lazarus Project had landed. Just binged, as good as S1. One to add to the list if you've not seen.

Watched Louis Theroux interview with Pete Doherty.
Not a fan. Doesnā€˜t come across as a warm likeable person, not an interesting person either.
Donā€™t get the hype myself.

Boat Story episode 1 was good tonight (BBC).
Watched the first 2 episodes on the IPlayer.

Wow. It's pretty gruesome in places. In fact very violent and bloodthirsty but almost comedic at the same time. Easy to watch as it's full on, a little weird too. Not fully made my mind up yet whether it's very cleverly made or a bit twee but definitely watchable all the same.

Yes I know what you mean! It does feel like a slightly different approach.
I like Daisy Haggard as an actress though. I think she is versatile enough to carry it along whichever direction it goes down.

Squid Game The Challenge starts on Netflix this Wednesday, had some good reviews, could be interesting. Traitors in December.

Lazarus Project S2 has just started, Slow Horses S3 next week, Jack Reacher S2 in December so a few things to watch.

Binged Lazarus Project in 3 days. As good as season 1. Hoping for a third. Sky produced series tend be a bit shit imo but this is really watchable.

Okay gang, how about a list of what you know is coming out and may be worth watching over the next couple of months:

Off the top of my head:

Slow Horses Season 3
Fargo Seaon 5
Boat Story
Jack Reacher season 2
Lazarus Project season 2
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 1
Murder at the end of the World season 1
Lawman: Bass Reeves season 1
Lessons in Chemistry season 1

Iā€™m more of a film man than the modern trend of serials.

Check out ā€˜The Innocentsā€™ 2021 (Norwegian with Eng subs)

For those who like an eerie atmosphere with great acting.

Forget all these crap, in my opinion, excuses for televiewing such as I'm a Celeb, Strictly, Mrs Browns Boys and so on.
I recently watched a programme on Channel 4 that I recorded last Saturday. The Princes in the Tower, new evidence.

I am not going to spoil the programme by telling you what it all entails, but it throws up new evidence on the story of the two princes in the Tower of London and Richard the third. Were they killed or did they survive?

Look it up, it will astound you .

That was absolutely brilliant, we watched that, astounding detective work, the lady who does it is fantastic, highly recommend it too.

Thought the Aussie Traitors and their presenter were very good.
If the other countries didn't require 10 - 12 hours to watch in full, or just had a 'highlights' show, I would watch them all...Very entertaining.

Watched the first 2 episodes of Fargo (series 5)....Wont spoil the story line, but WTF!!!!.....Juno Temple proving to be a great actress

Also started the new Ben Mendlesohn/Daisy Ridley movie..."The Marsh Kings Daughter"........switched off after 45minutes
Mendlesohn and Ridley are excellent....but it's so slow....one to save for a Christmas afternoon when the weathers crap...6/10

I will also recommend the Korean movie....Past Lives, my Best Movie of 2023.....Another gem from movie studio A24.....(Dodgy sticks & AppleTV)

Just started watching Squid Game The Challenge on Netflix. It's a reality show based on the TV series but without the killing, which is a shame cos a couple of the characters are absolute bell whiffs.
Regardless of that, I'm quite enjoying it.

think that first series of Homeland is perhaps the best series I've ever wacthed, Gripping stuff right to the very last scene.
I thought the entire series was the best complete show of all time too, it was gripping and every time you thought, "oh, that's too far fetched" it would literally happen somewhere in the world for real.

Watched first two episodes of Obliteration on Netflix and loved it, lots of gratuitous sex so far including the main character but donā€™t let that put you offā€¦!

The Holdovers......Paul Giamatti (Billions) is Oscar potential in this excellent movie...Imagine a very grumpy version of the Breakfast club.....8/10

Think it was series 5/6 and some poor ish episodes, with that american broadcaster who had an agenda with Presidents son.
