New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

The Dog House.. heartwarming and completely addictive series showing unwanted/abandoned/no longer able to be looked after doggies being re-homed with new families … 🐾

Been watching King of Tulsa and Yellowstone after reading reviews on here and elsewhere, but imo, neither comes close to the likes of Ozarks and Breaking Bad.

Tulsa King seems to be missing the depth of story that BB & Ozark had and quickly glosses over the main bit's to get to another scene with Sly being moody and tough
Shame..but it's a good watch...just hope they take a bit more time on the story for Season 2 and develop it

Yellowstone (Season1) is just the set up....2, 3 and 4 which is where we get deep into the story...More brandings, bombings, shoot outs, brawls in the bunk house, crazy dreams of Wolves, rattlesnakes in picnic boxes and Kevin Costner being "Tough"......1923 is also developing nicely.

Only draw back is a bit too much Rodeo and barrel racing......and way too much dodgy C&W music....although I do own a couple of albums by Ryan Bingham (The guy branded in S1)......

The Next 'Must See' programme will be on Sky on the 16th Jan..........The Last Of Us..........

I’m looking forward to The Last Of Us, can’t wait.
👍

We’ve just finished Without Sin on ITVX which we enjoyed. A very interesting story and not the ending you would have ever guessed.

Has anyone else watched that Glass Onion thing on Netflix, sorry if it has been mentioned I really enjoyed it but my Mrs thought it was absolutely shite.

Isn’t that film by the people who did Knives Out?
I didn’t realise it was on Netflix, I’ll have a go at that
👍

Yes I believe so all though I must admit I haven’t seen the original knives out so don’t know if they are similar or anything, does Daniel Craig have a ridiculous accent in that film as well?

Yeh it’s a great film but Daniel Craig doing a prime Foghorn Leghorn accent is a bit off putting 😂

I enjoyed glass onion, film on Netflix, Daniel Craig with a bad American accent but even though it’s daft I loved it, follow up film also on Netflix is knives out, I’m halfway through it but it’s not as good so far

Your Mrs is right...

The Detectorist series is absolutely fantastic. Wish I'd watched it earlier - on BBC iPlayer. Best thing since Fleabag.

I enjoyed it, as well as Knives Out. They’re supposed to be a tongue in cheek homage to Agatha Christie, so shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

As an aside, my daughter and her fella went to watch the latest version of Death on the Nile last year, and when I asked them if it was any good she said “It was ok, but they proper ripped off Knives Out!”

😂😂

Knives Out is the first one... Glass Onion was the follow up, both good - though i actually thought Knives Out was better!👍

I've just watched Treason and Kaleidoscope, both a good watch. The latter is a heist series and is clever in the fact the episodes aren't numbered, they are instead named different colours and have been made so they can be watched in any order - you just have to make sure the "white" episode is your season finale. I just let Netflix choose the order for us!

Comedy on BBC Our Flag means Death is based on a true story about a privileged gentleman who is a bit of an idiot becomes the Captain of a Pirate ship. Very funny/

Absolutely brilliant programme and reckon i've seen every episode, love Det Jason White from the Tulsa section, he's a top rozzer!
I have been watching it since series 1 over the years and I am addicted.
The same company did a Friday night live show from several police forces all over the States.
That was quite addictive also.

Yep, just finished series 2 of Slow Horses. It just got better and better. Look forward to series 3 and as some-one said Gary Oldman is brilliantly cast.
Thanks to whoever recommended. Will trawl back a bit to find my next binge watch.

The books are great too

Ozark is probably my favourite series of the last couple of years, really good and yet so few people seem to have watched it. Didn't realise a new season is out in Jan, but should be good considering how the last one ended 😱
Another series? OMG if you liked Ozark then you will enjoy Queen of the South 😁

Edit to add just realised that post is from a while back I thought the last series was the last one (darn it)

Lee - Not sure how old the post was you responded to but there is no future series of Ozark. S4 was the last.
Yes I've just realised we'll actually I told Jane and she didn't believe there could be so we googled it and then I realised that was an old post doh! thanks Matt

mmmm.... not an avid reader, apart from AVFTT and that takes up enough of my time. A couple of books on holiday is a must but that's about it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 you could personally right a book about the AVFFT but if you do don’t forget to mention the Welsh Fella otherwise he will get upset again!

seriously, I've never had a problem with Phil and that's going back many years when there were far more serious issues going on and disagreements between us. Think he's an excellent poster, prepared to speak his mind even knowing it's contrary to popular opinion. There's always merit to what he has to say and he always backs up what he says with reasoning. Whether you agree with it or not. He's quite thoughtful in what he has to say. Sure, he might wind people up and he may well know he's doing that but many people bite at what he has to say. Why? Because maybe there's a lot of truth in it.

Sorry, if that's a bit heavy. Oh and btw, I was in Rome last year and loved it.

I Asked An Actual Apollo Engineer to Explain the Saturn 5 Rocket.

If you are of a certain age or you are a science buff you might like this walk/talk from bottom to top of that monster rocket.

Ploughed through Breaking Bad (all episodes) in 3 weeks. Watched El Camino and really enjoyed it. Now onto Better Call Saul and absolutely loving it… hence the current username.

Breaking Bad right up there with the best. Better Call Saul a slow burner to begin with. But well worth sticking with. Jimmy is a great character and it well develops

Just watched the first episode of Der Pass (Sky Atlantic).
German (subtitled) noir detective series. Pretty good so far, dark, broody, disturbing - a bit of light entertainment after the footy.
😁

Kaleidoscope on Netflix is really good, half way through, watching random episodes. Some great acting too. Giancarlo Esposito is really good in it.

As I am typing this Ivor Cutler has just come on Radio 6, what a genius he was, funny as!

Just watched Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes on Ch5. I’ve watched a lot of programmes on this subject but this was very good, even now the Russians are claiming only 31 deaths when the figure is probably closer to 200k!
