O/T The most 'amazing ' world attraction you have been to

Las Vegas, it has many of the above mentioned all in one place, go on a gondola ride through an Italian town, see the Eiffel Tower, the history of ancient Egypt and much, much more😁

Paris attractions 👍 has anyone said the theme parks in Florida. Went to some archaeological site while in Santorini, started off good, then we got to the village remains and it was a mix of old stone and concrete,it looked hideous.

Teotihuacan pyramids, Mexico City
Guggenheim museum, NYC
Venice
Florence cathedral
La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona
Liverpool Anglican cathedral
Chapelle de Ronchamp, France
Forth Bridges

St Paul’s Cathedral viewed from the south bank and lit up at night was pretty awesome.

And the first sight of the Leaning Tower of Pisa where you think “fuck yes; that is leaning” - to be fair it does depend on the side you come in from.

Empire State - walking round a corner and suddenly there it was. Added piquancy my dad went up there when he was in NY during the war on the Atlantic Convoys. Mind you he beat me to most places. And I still haven’t been to Alexandria or Valletta.

The ferry from Hong Kongisland to Kowloon
The best time to take the ferry is at night from Tsim Sha Tsui over to Wan Chai.....and then it's only a short taxi ride to Happy Valley or for a beer at the Hyatt......the view is breathtaking and I think it cost about £4

Great wall of China, was lucky enough to visit in 1991 before was it was such a tourist attraction Walked for 5 hours and only saw 3 other people.

More recently ballooning over Bagan, Myanmar. 3000 Buddhist temples in an area the size of Manhattan.

Coming back on the M6 where there is that hill at Charnock Richard where you can see the Tower and (sighs) the Layton flats towering in the distance.

The thought of chips and gravy within the hour had me choking back the tears-you cant beat the Gold Coast and the small pleasures in life.

Watching the start of the Wildebeest migration on our safari in Kenya. 1 million plus on the other side of the river waiting to cross. Crocodiles & vultures all waiting to join in.

Not much in it is there? 😉

So as theres a thread about disappointed attractions, how about amazing ones?

I have several but as not to steal posts I'll only do one.

Mine is Niagara Falls. Its stunning. Its so loud and frankly awe inspiring. I have seen them from the Canadian side and American side. Canada is much nicer in the surrounds. Go over the boarder, its a bit of a ghetto.

Mya Bay in Thailand ( where they filmed The Beach).
James Bond Island ( Man with the Golden Gun) in Thailand
Paris is fantastic.
Lake District never fails.
Loch Lomond is stunning.

Looking back to Hong king from Kowloon watching the light show at night was pretty special. Walking the Sydney harbour bridge gave a pretty special view. Chichen itza was also pretty good.

Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti. Stayed in a safari lodge almost in the shadow of Kilimanjaro. Stunning sight. Huge mountain amidst thousands of miles of plains as far as the eye can see. The wildlife wasn't bad either.

Statue of Liberty for me, been to all the above as well and thought they were all great as well
Did you do the walk up inside? I went right up to the viewing platform inside the crown? Not sure you can do that anymore tho.

I once saw dolphins diving in and out of the early morning surf of the Aegean. A simple thing but fantastic to watch.

I know exactly what you mean. Being able to experience nature in its wildest form is someone that we all should be able to appreciate.
We once released baby turtles into the ocean and we’re told only 1/100 will survive.

The view from the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Also the roof climb, at the Adelaide Oval.

hiya Limechase, I visited not long after sept 11th and you were not allowed inside due to the Terrorist Threat.

Thought about some already mentioned That I’ve been to Paris Venice etc but something sticks in my mind from a couple of years ago. The Llanberris pass approached from the southern side. The sudden Sheer magnitude of the hills on each side of the valley Made the hairs on my neck stand up & gave me a sense of excitement even before climbing Snowdon.
