Official Transfer Deadline Day thread…

Josh wants to go, and he must be happy with the loan, nothing BM can do about that. He’s obviously been told to sell rather than let him go for free next summer.

Where are people getting 2m from? Its mooted at 6 with the add ons.

We rejected 3.5 so it must be 4 and 2?

Also what is going on, if this was to be done it was better to be tied up quickly so we could try and close some deals.

Maybe this is happening but no official announcement yet and you never know.

It could have been done hours ago but no announcement and we're well under way with our deals.... or it might still not be done and will complete last minute to leave us no time...

All a bit last minute...

Sky said initial fee of 2. Fabrizio Romano has said overall 5/6. I imagine it is 2 up front, 2 in installments and up to another two in potential add-ons.
Well as long as we can spend it, if its guaranteed income then it shouldn't matter if we spend it out our own pot.

I see Matty Longstaff has gone to Colchester. Bit of a fall for the kid that hit that screamer against Man Utd

There were a few on here saying in the summer we should move for him.

Any kind of moves would be a start today…….I’m not being all doom and gloom but surely we should be getting a couple of first teamers in?

I hope you are right, but not looking great. I know we do our business without much getting out in the public, but I haven’t seen us mentioned once anywhere other than the Brighton lad
One thing this will do is add a lot of pressure on to the Sadler and Mansford, we've no time to spend this money in this window and people are going to start wondering what's happening if no one of note arrives in January. We know that football clubs are cash vacuums but supporters, not unreasonably, want money received for players spent on new players, time will tell if that happens.

Did SS run a little short of money before he managed to replace the fax machine.😉

So good to be talking transfers and getting excited on transfer window day. could have been so so different.

That's not accepting mediocrity that's recognising a seriously good number of players set to return by Oct end.and an owner who will do the deal if it's right. We're blessed.

The problem is we've struggled to spend money we have this window, now we'll be in the spotlight trying to spend more, if bowlers transfer ever goes through leaving time that is, it might have already.

All very last minute, unless it's not gone through, we know nowt as usual.

Our whole transfer window (so far with just over 4 hours left) has been pretty much a shambles if we're honest. We've buggered about with Brannagan and the lad from Sheffield Wednesday, flapped about with Bishop and swerved by Simms.

We've made some decent loan signings and one permanent signing in Thompson who looks the part but there's been little else cheer the fan base with the talismanic Bowler apparently on his way.

That's the pressure on them if Bowler goes, they need to sign but are struggling for whatever reason.

The Brannagan saga showed we'd reached desperation levels.

Also think it's difficult for the club in this market, no club with good players want to sell, we bid 1m for a League 1 midfielder on the last year of his contract and the club still said no.

Doesn't completely excuse the club, because we honestly should have had 1-2 more permanents by now.

Can't see anyone coming in today, the club have prioritized quality over quantity this window and had a firm stance that they're not going to bring a player in if it isn't for the right price, the market is incredibly inflated right now and the club don't want to pay 3 or 4 times what a player is actually worth. That's not going to change in one day.

It's frustrating, but I'd rather us wait til January (when players are closer to their contracts being up) than panic buy now.
But then the players wages become a problem. We have to spot good young players on the way up or more players like Grimshaw and Bowler.
A good established player in the Championship or league 1 coming to the end of his contract will make wage demands that we don't want to pay.
I'm not knocking the clubs stance I pretty much agree with it, paying average Championship players around £20 000 a week would be madness for us.
Just need to hope we have enough about us to stay up while we gradually build up a solid Championship squad.

That's pretty much it, other clubs around us seem to be quite happy to throw money around like it doesn't matter so why come to us?

Youth is probably the future, but can we hang on to them if they have one good season? Can we actually build a side?

We’d like a decent midfielder at least, but if we don’t get anyone I’m ok with what we’ve got. The loans are young, hungry and exciting, and I’m sure we’ll not only stay up, but finish at least as good as last year. Glass half full.

Why havent we got any forest players with the bowler deal? Sam surridge would be a great signing for us

I guess it's a case of getting young'uns developing them, selling at the right time and repeating. The hard bit is consistently picking up players and turning them into better players, easier said than done!
