Pool :you must be some Adonis stallion! Lol!Anybody remember Stix ?
Now that was a proper dive quickest I've ever pulled didn't even get served and was straight back to her place.
Tache obviously... but also had some great nights with mates in Waterfront and the 'oldies' (25+) bar upstairs. Can't remember the name but it became the gallery when sanuk opened and they cut a big hole in the floor.
Rio’s anyone???
I think I remember that too.Its hard to remember back 40 yrs but was it the Touchdown that used to do £10 on the door and then penny a pint?
Always ordered a bottle of anything from the bottom shelf of the fridge!!Yes they did![]()
From my hazy memory it was what was previously the Mardi Gras.IIRC wasn't the Touchdown the old 007? Sorry if it's an obvious question but it's absolutely ages since I've been up town
I posted in this tread a while ago (page 2), but don't mind saying again how brilliant the old Galleon was (amongst others I mentioned)
£10 to get in and 1p a pint, in a way, was really good business. Esp if people weren't drinking much late on after a night in town
But I am guessing the ale wouldn't have been that great? (just seen Potts post - confirmed my assumption)
Mardi Gras,Touchdown Tavern,Just Ji's then Swallows, cant remember after that. You could do half price drinks tue/thurs down most places, remember taking some old pennys in somewhere to buy a pint but cant remember where,Sundays used to be good,Rumours or wherever extension was till midnight. Think the licensing laws have ruined the nightclub scene over the years. Those days were legendary in the 80's.From my hazy memory it was what was previously the Mardi Gras.
It was about £2.50 to get in and about the same for a pint, so you had to drink more than three pints to be in profit.
The beer wasn't great though; but I guess that wasn't the reason we went in.
New York New York was previously the Clifton Ale House.Promises, and here's a blast from the past circa '87 New York New York. Downstairs dive somewhere near where Yates's/Layton Raikes are now.

The Lemon tree...went in once or twice in the daytime prior to closure....had the huge place to myselfOxford pub, 007, Lemon Tree.
The Showboat do you mean Fargo? What were the clubs in Cleveleys besides the Cleveleys Hotel? I remember Gallopers but was there one called the Queen's in the 80s on the old Cleveleys Hydro site?
Block of flats there now. Anyone recall?

QTS, I was on the door at Secrets in Topping St that night, they first tried to get in our place and were politely told to do one as it's "members only" and one of them mentioned in a cockney accent "Where the fack is this Tache place? I heard they let every cant in there" We directed them around the corner to the Tache but mentioned it might not end well for them if they went in there misbehaved and got lairy. I read the press report the day after, they clearly took no notice of our stern warningHad battles in Dixieland when a coach load of Geordie's turned up...The Squire became our residence after that. Chelsea headhunters turned up one night after they played Blackburn away and they got mullered...they came back a few years later but it turned into a biker/heavy rock club...a few casualties on both sides.
Happy days...they made it halfway up the stairs in Squires and were done in around 5 mins.... When they came back for revenge We had all moved on to Blinkers on Topping st.QTS, I was on the door at Secrets in Topping St that night, they first tried to get in our place and were politely told to do one as it's "members only" and one of them mentioned in a cockney accent "Where the fack is this Tache place? Yes it was the Dolphin and the Queens I was thinking of. Funny how your mind plays tricks on you when you're an old bugger, cheers Matesrates.Used to go every night to the Dolphin bar and then upstairs at weekends to Queens, quality

Locals card always worked for me, Tuesday nights were the best after footy training and a few beers in the Dunes. They tended to let in the girls who were on holiday but not the lads which wasThat's if you ever could get in, especially as a group of lads. The locals card never worked there. When we did finally get the honour of being allowed entry you're right about the totty RB although very clicky.
Great place in the 70's.Jenks. Saw a couple of notable bands in there.
