Third Round Draw

Quick question....

Why have the prem and championship teams been put into alphabetical order upto ball No 44 then the rest of the clubs who've made it through to rnd 3 been thrown in at the end at random?

The top two Divisions always go 1-44 in the R3 draw. And the remainder are numbered in the order that they came out for the R2 draw.

If you make R4 or beyond then your number will be that of whichever tie you were drawn in in the round before.

Had an awful feeling it was going to be Hull but glad its not. Mate is a Tranny so that would be good.

Man Utd or Liverpool away will seriously piss me off as obviously can’t go in huge numbers.

Even more annoying would be Norwich, Cardiff, Southampton away

A winnable tie at home would be nice or a glamour tie in the box for extra income

Speaking about the F.A Cup noticed a few fans on ladders etc at the Chorley game....imagine if they get a huge team at home in the next round..... potentially could they rent their back garden out to fans for a tidy profit???!!!

An easy draw if there is such a thing and then a big draw at home for the 4th round with the possibilty of fans being back.

We have a poor history in FA Cup since 53.
Never beaten a Premiership side (FA cup) and last victory over top flight club was Burnley in mid 70’s. We have been humiliated by non league teams on many occasions .
Surely we are due a change of fortune and hit the football headlines one day.
We certainly do, but we can still boast the only player to score a hat trick in a FA Cup final.

Arsenal always used to be ball number 1, until Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic turned up with their shiny new name, AFC Bournemouth.

Lowest ranked team at home. Guaranteed to be on TV and a good chance to progress and get some prize money to help finances. £82,500 prize money for 3rd round winners.

Just consulted the BASIL octopus. It managed the following mouth watering ties :

Stevenage v Liverpool
Chorley v Nottingham Forest
Everton v Leeds
Blackpool v Fulham
Bristol City v PNE
Marine v Newport County
Stoke City v Manchester City
Bristol Rovers v Man United.

I seem to recall reading that 25% of that may still be allocated to the losers due to continuing restrictions. Fa were just waiting to see what the situation is come January

Burnley v Chorley
Everton v Spurs
Stevenage v Preston
and
Morecambe v Blackpool

I hope you don't get the Marines. Would they arrive in a landing craft and shin up South Pier in the middle of the night?

It's a really good test. I honestly thought we'd got Cov for about 3 minutes, so actually it's a better tie than I though!

Reading last season was very winnable and their second string took us apart at BR. It's a tough game no matter what team they put out.

The stand out tie was/could be Canvey Island v Millwall and could split the BASIL lads apart, where local rivalries will be put to the test with tempers likely to fray.

Canvey Island has big links to the petrochemical industry, of which satw is a world authority aside from his legendary run chasing on here in his spare time.

Let's hope it is an improvement on our trip there in R3 in 1978. That was grim in every sense of the word.

Things got off to a poor start when Robbies sound came back on.

And who was that in the "state Fa cup history or current league position / recent manager appointments if not applicable" role.
