Transfer deadline day thread

Not sure I agree on that SATW. Wouldn't suggest he does. If anything I'd suggest the club is getting a decent fee for him and are happy to swap him and get CB and a decent loan winger in.
Maybe. But I don’t see the need to sell in January if the player doesn’t want to and we could focus on another loan to replace Wintle and see how the land lies in terms of Bowler in the summer. We could even try to offer him a better deal to ensure we can get real value for him when he goes.

He's posting loads on players profiles. Interacting with fans. Went mental when he scored. I don't see him wanting to leave but I imagine getting 16k a week compared to probably 4-6k a week will be massively appealing.

I know, but the poster seemed to think he took a pay cut, which he didn’t. I personally, as you suggest, think we were only ever a short term for him to put himself in the shop window. If we get between 1&2 million for him after 6 months, that’s good business. Although like many others I would like him to stay, it’s never going to happen. 👍
No, I am fully aware he was a free agent. I was making the point that for us to sign him we offered 1+1 deal with a salary that would be a the top end of our scale but lower than he was on at Everton.

You can still want to leave without wanting to leave.

And finding a 400% pay increase appealing is essentially wanting to leave.

£2.5m with no proper replacement (Morgan Rogers is another right footer like Dale, Keshi and Kirk) is still shite business.

It's looking grim for us at the mo.

He didn’t join us for lower wages as he was without a club

Lower than fcuk all would take some doing

He hasn't got a release clause this is the club cashing in if he goes .. unfortunately thats our policy now
If that's the case give an example of a player we've cashed in on...

The fact we haven't heard that the improved Brannagan bid has been outright rejected is strange. Either

1) Oxford aren't even bothering to comment because of other business they want to complete
2) We are in negotiations with them (i.e. They want more and we tell them we'll have more once Bowler's sale is completed) and have a chance at agreeing a fee

Yeah looking like no Brannagan or Norburn. And no Bowler. But it's changing rapidly.

Maybe the club just really needs the £2.5m? Big deficit since Sadler arrived.

He shouldn’t have to, it’s a realistic fact that our business model is based around cashing in on players. I’m hoping Phil’s use of the word ‘unfortunately’ is just an acknowledgment of that reality, rather than a criticism.

Now saying noburn Off Rogers staying at Bournemouth. Bournemouth and forest fighting it out for bowler. Can see us losing bowler and getting nobody in 😩😩😩

So there is no evidence? Jerry Yates, there was interest in him from Rovers in the summer window. What happened? Did we sell him? No. he signed a long term deal.

Of course. I was responding to the specific point about transfers.
Sure, but it's a complex process of dealing with many things. Each player's situation is individual and the club can't always do what it would choose to do. We ought to trust this management set up to do the best it can, going off the evidence of the last 2 years.

Maybe the bosses didn’t think it was time to cash in?
I’m not using the term ‘cash in’ as something sneaky or derogatory, but we need to make money from selling players to progress. It’s just how it is. We haven’t got the money to pay sky high wages to keep all the stars that we improve, it’s a balancing act for the management.

All the talk and 'body language' from the club tells you Bowler wants out. Obviously we need to max the fee, but as much as it's a shame we won't get far with players that aren't committed to the club.
And you got that from the last game did you? 🤡
I really can't see how we can't compete with the likes of Forest ffs - they were a club under Clough but since then have been serial underachievers

I agree, but I would also add that it's disappointing if we sell one of our best players in January.

The saving grace is that I believe the money would be reinvested in the club.

I just hope he's still a Pool player tomorrow.
