Blackpool v Everton Matchday Thread 24.07.22

I’m out and not watching, but from the sounds of it it’s dire. Is there a season ticket refund option?

Reading this board makes it sound 10x worse than it really is. A prem side got past our defense for one goal, was given another that looks offside, and the game has settled down since then. Everton has had more possession but only because they're happy to pass it around in their own half of the pitch for two minutes before trying anything.

Poor start. 2nd looked offside. Couple of half chances for Fiorini when we decided to play a bit. Could have done better with those. First time Bowler comes alive we score. When we pass it around we look ok..just don't do it enough.

Sonny Carey I really don't see what people rave about, he's so one footed and if he's the answer to our creative midfield issues then We are in a bit of trouble.

Really nice build up for the goal, starting to see some positives at least.

Worrying as it stands for the season. We were suckers for those diagonal crosses last season. Need a new left back and more qualitt generally. Would like to see Dougall on in the second half.

difficult to judge that, for half an hour we just werent at the races at all. We look unbalanced, too wide up front and too narrow in defence. Like th elook of the new lad williams, calm and covers the ground really quickly. we need to up the tempo significantly. Need some bit and a level head in midfield.

We look too passive when we don't have the ball. Far too easy for Everton to play 6 or 7 passes before anyone comes into contact with a Blackpool player. Also, the wide defensive positions look very vulnerable in this formation.

Carey not really contributed so would like to see Virtue there with Kenny in the centre. Fiorini's wasted a couple of decent positions.

Our passing isn't too bad when we have it but I'd like to see us commit more to closing down so we can have it more often.

Struggled to find Everton's bench. Got it now.

Bench: Crellin, Leban, Holgate, Keane, Allan, Iwobi, Nkounkou, Simms, Warrington, Mills, Price, Dobbin, Welch.

I'm trying to stay positive but this is quite simply embarrassing, the shape, tactics and square pegs make us a sitting duck. Appleton needs help from the board, this team/squad is quite simply not good enough.
