Vaccine Passports

Rediculous people already bought season tickets who might be against jab will they be refunded? NB I have been jabbed. Also time checking its getting rediculous.

I'm generally not in favour of this course of action for a few reasons, not long term anyway. Firstly, we will end up in the UK with a very high % of the population double vaccinated, we're looking at around 88% of the adult population. So the majority of those attending will have been double jabbed anyway. Secondly, a significant proportion of those attending will be children who won't be vaccinated and it hasn't (yet) been made mandatory for them. So I fail to see why you would insist on adults being jabbed when thousands of children will be there spreading it anyway. Thirdly, if we're going to do it for covid, why not flu jabs too, since it's likely Flu will kill as many if not more people than covid in the next twelve months (flu vaccination has nowhere near the take up as the covid vaccination).
I get that Covid has had a huge impact on life and it's only natural people will be nervous, it's at the forefront of everyone's minds. However, It does seem like all rational thought has evaporated in the last 12months, which the mass hysteria caused by the 24hr rolling news channels has helped to propagate.
And i'm saying this as someone who has been double jabbed. I just feel it's unnecessary and coercive. It won't stop at football either. If it is brought in, I sincerely hope it's only until we reach the 88% ish level of vaccination across the adult population. It needs to be a short term temporary measure only.

Utterly pointless. Been to an outdoor music concert and the RHS flower show at Tatton Park in the last week and didn't need vaccine passport for either. You didn't need a vaccine passport to get into other events recently either.

Thing is, if they really are going to consider this then some smart arse will produce a fake pic for phones showing compliance. Plus, are they really going to check names etc against say a photo ID or other proof of address.

Seems daft to me this.

As has been said, vaccinated people can still contract and carry the virus.

The leagues could operate an ‘innocent until proven guilty’ method in all this by insisting on a negative test within 24 hours which would catch everyone….kids, the exempt etc. That way you’d rule out the virus entering the ground at a much higher rate than a passport.

Just screams of another level of control on normal life, it’s all starting to feel like a social experiment now over protecting people.

Exactly this. Getting a pack of lateral flow tests is as easy as anything and free too. There must be a level of trust in people doing the right thing now, because forcing people to take an injection in order to be able to live and do every day things is wrong, sorry it just is. It wouldn't stop at football and it's really not a giant leap away from making vaccination mandatory and most wouldn't agree with that surely? I actually think the government may have trouble getting this through parliament anyway, as there is a lot of opposition to it, mostly from the PM's own party.

I thought the vaccination passport produced a QR code for scanning, not your names address or other details?

Why just football?
Over 2000 packed inside the Winter Gardens last night that's more of a spreader than sat outside at a match are other sports going have to implement vaccine passport checks.

The whole thing is becoming ridiculous and a way of blackmailing you into getting the jab, first it was nightclubs now football what next going shopping?

The take up is very high stuff those who don't get it but putting a gun to someone's head is the wrong way of doing things.

I just can’t see how it can work, the queues would be enormous and stood in the freezing cold and rain. People ending up with pneumonia for gods sake. I quite understand the desire to stop the virus spreading and save lives, but it just feels unworkable.

Naked coercion/blackmail. Those that have said no up to now aren't going to fold to further threats at this stage. The government would be better off changing tack and offering free STs to the reluctant imho.

At the end of the day if it saves even just one Blackpool fans life if it is worth doing.

That person could be your Dad, Mother, brother, sister, son, daughter etc.

As you seem to support the vaccine passport & have had vax can you answer this question please?

As you know you can still get Covid after jab (Javid etc) why would you want to go to an event without a negative test when you know you might be a spreader & kill people?

They are talking about it being for sporting events over 20,000. I’m struggling a bit with this as if there’s 19,750 at a game does the virus leave people alone?

“Ahh there’s only 12,000 at Bloomfield Road today, everyone is ok 🦠... I’ll head to Old Trafford and get some people there”...

Not only are Covid passports the mark of a totalitarian state, they don’t even work logically. You can be vaccinated and not immune and immune from the natural infection without vaccination.

They are fuck all to do with health. Just say no.

If it comes in and the clubs are helped with the financial costs for it then I don't really have an issue with it. If ur double jabbed you show your vaccine passport if not you show proof of a negative test in the preceding 24hrs. It's not really a big deal if you want to go to a game and then it may well save many lives throughout the country of people who otherwise may have caught it.

I think there are some people (admittedly a shrinking number) who want everyone to carry papers to 'prove' the content of the carrier's blood. These same people get humpty when the obvious parallels are shown.

Anyway, it ain't gonna happen and even if by some authoritarian nightmare it does, it'll either be the very unofficial hack and trace app that some 2020 nutbar conspiracy loon had the foresight to create, or full ST refunds (x4) for us. Not sure yet.

It’s a mad old world. The recent ‘Pingdemic’ has had many waking up to the shit show of the Track and Trace app, but then they’ll probably think this is a good idea and trust it will be rolled out impeccably 🤷🏻‍♂️

It would be unworkable and costly to implement and the queue at Bloomfield Rd for the North Stand would be down the M55 at 3.15pm.

Yeah, it ain't happening. They struggle to get everyone in the ground for 3 as it is!

Seems to me it is also discrimination against young adults who have had their first jab but their second may not be due until say September. What do clubs do - refund for a proportion of their season ticket because they are not allowed to attend? My son is in this position and we were going to get tickets for Bristol City on Monday, but this would prevent us going. Ashton Gate is 27000

Where have you been Poppins. Are you not aware that football to some idiots is far more important than the spreading of Covid.

Not going to be implemented till October apparently when they will have started the Flu jab and Covid booster program if the elderly miss that are they not allowed in?
Utter nonsense.

York races eh. Any passports? Any proof of negative test?

Can’t believe the gee gees are more important to you than the spreading of covid.

Stewards enquiry please, I’m guessing you backed the wrong horse (again).

Wise words from someone that described restrictions as a "joke but i fully understand that people are scared and i do respect that". Two faced buffoon. 👆

the covid passport is a qr code on you phone which lasts a month and gets scanned on your phone or you can print off at home. You can get it now through the NHS app and it takes a couple of minutes if you know your nhs number. Once scanned it will show the users (or the phones user) covid status. This qr code can easily be scanned through an app on a smart device by a steward before you enter the ground meaning little or no extra time to get in - a few seconds at best.

I'm not massively supportive, im not saying the system is perfect or there isnt loopholes (which people will of course exploit)... but I understand why it is being done. Warning - I'm about to bore you with legislation now.

Once fans are in the ground their welfare and safety is the responsibility of the club. Under H&S at work act they must mitigate any serious threat to welfare including infectious disease. This has always been the case. COVID is new(ish) and still a serious risk, therefor there must be mitigations in place. The club will (and must) follow all the available guidance through the efl, phe and the green guide. If there is an outbreak (fans, squad, staff) and the club is found to have not done everything it can, or at least what is reasonable, it could end up with huge fines and maybe additional sanctions from the efl.

and then there is the moral obligation...

As i said im not majorly for it but im not against it either. Hopefully it will just be one season and we can all get on with our lives as soon as possible

I downloaded one yesterday. Their's a domestic one and an international one.
The domestic is supposed to last a month (although when I downloaded it gave me an almost immediate expry date????) so you need to keep refreshing it and yes you do get a QR code.
You can keep it in your NHS app which is different from your Covid 19 tracker app (or even just print it off).
I did try and download the international one but that's a lot less staightforward. You need to photograph yourself and then do a face scan (which didn't work) or a video. The video didn't recognise my photo 😂. Gave up then. 😁

Unfortunately Poppins, a lot of the clowns on here can smell the coffee but can't find the cup.

So that would require every gate steward having a QR scanner and do they then need some form of identification to show it is the same person?

i was just speculating as to what could happen.. it makes sense to me to do the check before you hit the turnstiles and then have to turn people away at that point. and one steward could cover a few lanes...

I would be amazed if the FA or government have figured it out yet!

If it gets through parliament, there’s no way it’s for one season. It’s here to stay

Two of the most incompetent institutions in the country? They haven’t even begun to think of the detail, let alone figured it out

It won’t.
Wake up.

I may have misunderstood your comment - Are you saying that stopping people from entering the ground who are at most risk from contracting covid and then spreading it wider in society is not going to save lives?

Are you saying that any measure designed to stop community infection and reduce pressure on the NHS is not worth doing?

The sooner people realise that eating healthier, exercising, sleeping well, not drinking too much and dropping some weight is their best line of defence against a virus the better. A vaccine is one part of the solution, not a solve all silver bullet.
I cannot believe people in this country are even considering legislation which means you must demonstrate your ‘health status’. People need to think very carefully about what kind of country they want to live in

What I’m saying is that nothing is risk free. The only sure fire way of not putting anyone at risk is for life long lockdowns. At some point you have to decide on a sensible level of risk, whilst not letting the state creep further onto personal freedoms.

We've got a live one here AK 🎣😉
A day at the Races trying to avoid anonymous idiots. Sounds exhausting 😂
😂 I am intrigued as to how his day went dropping the shoulder like Stanley Matthews as a group of rowdy males approached or showing CJ Hamilton speed as he left the toilets.

@FlytoKavala can you give us an insight into your day at the races avoiding idiots. Did you do the County Stand or Paddock, or did you go corporate? If so, the waiting on staff? Did you ask them some quick fire questions to establish their intelligence?

What was it like trackside? If someone shouted “Giddup” did you move away from them? How did you place your bets? Sanitise your slips?

As football is more important to many than the spread of Covid, did you feel the same about the racing fans yesterday as you mention you avoided idiots like me?

I’m thinking that At the Races could maybe feature this if it’s good.

Look forward to hearing about it.

So, as a 29 year old I have to miss the first few games of the season because my second jab isn't booked till September due to the 8 week minimum. That's so unfair on the young adults.
